I have a auction going now and the bid in around $100, I have gotten a email for someone who want me to close the auction and sell to them for almost 400, So far they have not bid on this item. This auction still has over 3 days left to go. Thanks

Wow that is a tough call. I dont think I would do it because I have been burned so many times. If they were REALLY interested in it why not bid? If you close the auction and they dont pay you are out the insertion fee.

At this pooint Your $100 bid is a fairly sure thing, Ending the auction you and your buyer lose some of the protections ebay allows and the leverage for what it is worth of feed back.

As well you really have to wonder why this person willing to pay $400 hasn't simply placed the bid if they are honestly interested !!!

I have had this happen a couple of times and I turned down the offers and let the auction run its course i did well, far more than the offers

usually the person making the offer knows what the item is really worth and is making you a lowball offer hoping you will jump on it so he can buy it and resell it..

I would thank him ,suggest he place a bid and sit back and see what happens.
spock here......

I always follow the same course as mrspock here, But, the last two times I've done it the item went for less than the offer. In your case I would quickly searc hthe sites to try and find the going value of the item and then decide whether t oaccept or not. But be aware that it could be another seller with the same item ending close to yours trying t oremove yours from the market so stay sharp to this - make sure if you accept to get phone # etc as then he/she will be less likely to scam.
