I just received a FAX stating that U-PIC has ceased doing business due to a stockholder breakup. The FAX says that a mew company called PIC (Package In-Transit Coverage) has been formed and starting in November payments need to be paid to PIC. There was not a whole lot of info regarding things like where to email shipping logs or make Paypal payments.

Anyone else have further info on this?

Their web site is still up at http://www.u-pic.com/ - And the site was updated today too, but no news of this.

If anyone has further information, please post. I have seriously been thinking about doing business with them.

Are you sure the fax is legit?

The FAX looks legit and is from Bliss Wendelburg with an email address of [email protected] They list the following phone number for details (800) 955-4623. It also states that I will receive an official notice via USPS mail shortly. The FAX alsoc ontained an updated policy for my shipments and had all my personal information. I assume this is for real.

I am a U-PIC customer and have NOT received any such notification. I would caution you to confirm this with the company before you go sending money to someone else. Insurance companies such as U-PIC are regulated. You would have to receive a new contract from the acquiring company before being obligated to pay a premium. A fax sent to some people and not others is absolutely not standard business practice in the insurance business. Please check into this further and don't assume it is legit.

I have sent an e-mail to Candi to ask her about this situation. I recommend that you do the same.

Although.....when I go to www.parcelcovg.com it takes me to the U-PIC site. So maybe a change is in the works and not everyone has received notice yet. Still, best to wait for the papers before making any payments.

Well..I had already paid my October premium through Paypal. I'll have to wait and see when the new policy arrives. I did receive a FAX copy of the new policy.

Okay everyone, I received a response from Candi. I am posting it here with her permission:

[b]Please copy and paste the following information - with our permission:

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know what is going on if you are a U-PIC customer and have not received your fax as of yet.

Due to a partner/stockholder buyout, U-PIC has ceased doing business. U-PIC's President has started up PIC - Package In-Transit Coverage. We have the same programs, rates, coverage etc.

You will be receiving a fax, as well as a new package in the mail. Your coverage does not lapse at all and all claims will be honored, as well as your existing rates. Our suite # is now 301, versus 814, however, the mail is being forwarded.

Please feel free to telephone or e-mail me directly if you have any concerns or questions.

Thank you for patience during this transition.

So things will proceed as normal. I'm really happy about this because this is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with on the net.

A combination of PIC and Endicia have saved me tons of money and time.
