Hi all -
I am a seller of high end men's and women's clothing on eBay. Recently I came across an Hermes scarf, which I have never sold before. It has a very intricate print of animals, and the silk has a very heavy, quality feel to it. "Hermes Paris" is printed on one corner. It does not have the copyright symbol on it, but I have read that could indicate it is older. Curiously, on the content/origin label, it says "100% silk, Made in Paris." I thought that was unusual because typically the country of origin is stated.
I have compared this scarf to a Hong Kong knockoff, which feels much lighter and "cheaper" quality of silk. If this is a fake, it's a darn good one! I don't want to list it on eBay unless I know for sure it is real. Does anyone have suggestions on what to look for or how to authenticate it?

the french will never say MADE IN PARIS.
the french has fought a bitter battel in intl court and won on the name LIMOGE which is a place in france and is often referred to the porcelain boxes produced in that region.
any porcelain boxes not made in limoge cannot be called limoge, which includes those made in china, thailand, japan ,portugal etc.
there are still some old ones around which are stamped made in limoge, china.
there is no city called limoge in china.
as for your fancy scarf,it could be a fake one made by some maker who can produce rich quality silk, someone who does not travel much and think paris is a country??
why not call hermes us office and ask them.

Put it on ebay and if it is a fake it will be deleted quickley. They might even email you and ask where you purchased it. Really-search ebay and see what the trade mark lookes like. There might even be a scarf that is the same as yours. I think, but not for sure, that you can list it but not use Hermes in the title. I sell scarfs and I have two Hermes Fakes. They are still worth a little money but not on ebay. I do sell Hermes Ties and they are marked with numbers and logos.
