Has anyone heard of BidBay? It is suppost to be like Ebay. I have gone in there a couple of times, and I don't think there are any buyers?
Is this really an auction site?

You have spoken the ancient EVIL word of AW.

Discussions of bidbay have been banned from AW, and the moderators should have already pulle this thread just for the mentioning of bidbay!

Wait.. the moderators are gone, so does this mean that we can now talk about Bidbay?

I always hope other auction sites do well, as competition is healthy.
I'm a little concerned about Bidbay though because of the execs running it.
I'm from Oregon, so I know about Wes Cooley, their Vice President. Not the most reputable caracter, and that's being nice.
According to an old AW article, it looks like at least one other exec has a "colorful" past also. Check it out;

Now, we could probably still use the site just fine, who cares about the execs, just don't be too trusting of these caracters...and don't expect a lot of Oregon people there. But don't worry, there's not many Oregon people anyway so what the heck.

In February of this year, BidBay filed for an initial public offering. The statement revealed that one of its largest shareholders, Donald Dayer, is barred from promoting or selling stock due to previous fraudulent activities.

A recent AP story reports that BidBay Vice President and former Oregon congressman Wes Cooley was convicted of lying about his war record in the Oregon Voters' Pamphlet and sentenced to two years of probation.

The story also notes that eBay accuses BidBay CEO George Tannous of being a serial cybersquatter who has also registered the domain names NewYorkTimesOnline.com and DominosPizzaOnline.com.

BidBay is a site that I would avoid like the plague.

Once upon a time, Bidbay had it's own Forum here until the CEO and his staff spammed this board under several IDs. When the Forum was removed and they were permanently banned, the CEO publically encouraged the site cheerleaders to come over and spam the boards to the point that all discussion of BidBay was banned by AW.

The CEO offered a reward for the identity of an anti Bidbay user who posted here. They also "borrowed" AW's User Agreement and auction templates and were stupid enough to leave the AW logo as evidence on the thumbnails. Go take a look in the Other Online Auctions board or do a search and check out some of the crap that went on here.

Extremely unprofessional.....

Thanks sweetpotato for the history lesson. That was before my time, and I always wondered what that was all about.

Yep, I've heard of them. I won an item on there a couple of years ago. Some how that entered me into a contest for winning money from bidbay. I won $100. I'm not complaining!
