since the police have left the building, can we now mention sellers by name? auction numbers?
i would love to direct to some of the auctions and the amount of #@$% you have to wade through to see an item
yesterday i was hunting for a specific item and clicked on an auction that had so much background going on that i could barely read the description and could not clearly make out the picture of the item

Well, they haven't pulled the post that mentions Bidbay yet, so it's probably ok.
Though frankly, I'm never too thrilled with such posts. Other ebay forums do this and soon it becomes filled with posts of "look at this awful auction layout!" and "look at these ridiculous terms!" and "EEEOOWW, I can't believe he's selling THAT!" as participants try to outdo each other. After awhile it makes for tedious and unproductive reading that devolves into a contest to come up with the snidest remark about the auction (and yes, I do generally skip those threads altogether).
I admit that I rather liked AW's policy of not permitting this, at least not without inviting the seller of the auction to let them know their auction is being discussed. I've seen some nasty things happen as a result of somebody's auction getting posted to a forum - anything from lurkers running up the price, to people sending hate mail. Discussing other people's auctions (especially when they aren't there to defend themselves) always struck me as petty and juvenile.
Anyway, just expressing my opinion. And with the moderators gone, it's inevitable that this will start happening anyway.

I am glad the moderators are gone(not glad if they were layed off & are out of work& wish them luck) but we do have a responsibility our fellow posters.
AUCTIONWATCH posted that we still need to follow the guidelines, & that the boards are still somewhat monitored, and i believe names auction numbers etc are not allowed.
It sure is great to be able to share info about different sites etc.without interruption & to give & get info on auction trends etc...good luck everyone hope this helps

and i agree completely with following the guidelines.
the worst posts are/were the ones slamming a specific seller or buyer
as sellers, we should respect the buyers and remember that they too may be reading these posts
i would like to see some constructive, and not vindictive threads on setting up simple, yet attractive auctions
so many sellers add to their templates until the item for sale is almost totally lost in the background and the description is lost in the TOS. many of these sellers are not new and should know better

Sometimes it really does open your eyes as to how not to do auctions. But I really do prefer the generallized threads we've had here-like the ones where we tell each other what drives us crazy on other peoples auctions.
