I typed in one of my favorite alternative auction sites, www.321gone.com...and eBay comes up. Was it absorbed into The Entity? GULP!! If so, what a shame...

If you type in either www.bidville.com or www.epier.com and forget the first dot then you are sent to eBay.
Meg covers all bases it seems.

The typos are not ebays..they are people that are using cj.com to make comissions from Ebay.

Take alook at the redirect page for wwwepier.com

Thanks lowprofile for that info. The topic of the bidville and epier redirects ha been discussed a lot on BV but no one had an exceptable explanation of why the redirect to ebay occurs.

I could be that 321gone just gave up and pointed their domain at ebay. There is nothing that I can find in the news or on the net that indicates that ebay bought them, and why WOULD ebay buy them?

According to their registar information, 321gone is pointed to directnic.com and not ebay.

directnic.com has a service called "directDNS" that points a domain name in one of three ways all for only $5.00 per year.

So it looks like they just gave up and pointed themselves at ebay. Go figure.

Why re-direct to ebay? Why not a page that says they are no longer in business?
