Week ago I shipped out a large box,
Friday it came back to me with a sticker
"targeted mail" (it was clothes in USPS priority box.)
I took it to the Po, the opended it, searched it, messed up my wrapping, taped it and reshipped it and I had to pay for that,
Did this happened to any one?

So what, this is not English Class. I am sure if you had done all that work you would be tired. I only received 2 both from the same person and I am upset. Remember we are here to help each other. Our numbers are few so lets just move on. You knew what they meant. Well I did anyway.

No I never had that happen to me, but with the shortage of mail they have to get their postage from someone so they might as well have us reship our packages.

Ive not had that happen. I would not be surprized if it did. Id guess that all the mail processed on contaminated sorter machines has been destroyed or decon'ned and re'packaged - Perhaps you had one of the unlucky packages that ran on one of those sorters. Mabe it was just a random check.
Luck to ya
Ed

I'm from Israel, and english is 6th language
For me, plus it's a whole new & different alphabet
From hebrew so I have a very good excuse
For gramar mistakes.... What's yours?

It wasnt Xmas item,
Just normal clothes, we had a special
"35 piece lot of new with tags clothes"
There was nothing special about the packing
(was packed in free priority mail box from the Po and had all info, return address,
Item # and "ebay purchase" marked on the box,
So it was weird that they would do that.

wowwow85 .. please, please go the the Bidville message boards and correct all of those hillbilly types and their sixth grade education posts. You would not believe that so many people can totally screw up the English language in their posts. Of course, you'll have to pay $$$ to get your credit card verified just to post in their message center but it's worth it to marvel at the posts.

Laiochka,

I wish I were fluent in several languages - I admire you.

Your English is just fine. I knew exactly what you were saying.

Lucy

Welcome Laiochka---
This is a friendly board, Most of us are here because either we need help or find that we can help others. I also admire someone who can and has the opportunity to learn the many languages.

Maybe the Postal Service just random checks packages as the airlines random check passengers. The only thing I would be upset with is the fact you had to pay postage over again. I haven't heard if they do this or not but next time I mail a package I will ask. Take care.

i have an israeli customer who bot 2 items from me and they are solid metal figurines shipped 9/7/01.
you are right, the aphabets are sure different,he sent me several emails and they sure look funny.
it took a long time for him to receive his items in israel,i think the problem is more with israeli customs as you know -heavy metal from usa????????????
but i think for you,it could be just random check and bulky clothes could make them wonder who needs so many pieces of clothing???
i am seriously thinking of using usp or fed exp ground for shipping for xmas.
it is better to pay more shipping than to be blamed some one did not get his xmas gift

Yes, paying twice is what got me most,
And unhappy customer cause she has to wait 2 weeks total, I shipped 60 pounds of clothes yesterday with UPS for $42.78 insured, it would cost me close to $100.00
With USPS priority, so I'm switching for all
Heavy items to UPS, plus they come to your door to pick it up
And insurance is sooo much cheaper and free
Tracking (compare to DC from PO)

With my luck all the languages I speak have different alphabet, Russian and the rest of
Slaviks have either azbuka or cyrilika,
So English and German are only two with latin
Alphabet so I'm quite happy about being able to write in it

Isreal customs are the best and worst
In one, it takes 3 hours to get into the country, they check everything,
(takes me about 2 because my passport says
Born in Jerusalem, but they still wanna know
EVERYTHING)
As you just found out in the US security is
Very important and even though it's very enyoing to take that long, most people
Dont mind, but we have many many more
Employes compare to US customs,
Packages are checked equaly well,
When I send stuff home to my family they
Either make them pick it up and unpack it at the customes office, or they send them dirrectly but you can tell that it was opened.

Thanks for the help, I just wanted to know
If anyone else had this happened since it was so weird that they would do that,
(and sent it back, even though they tagged it targeted mail...)

Ok to answer your Question, Mail is being targeted and returned to sender when there is not a complete full return address on the package.

must have a full complete name or address I have read this on other boards this is the reason it is targeted according to other who have had this happen...

That was my point it had all info:

From:
My name ,My ebay id ,My address ,My city
My zip
Then it had desc of what is inside:
Ebay auction shippment,
35 piece lot of womens
Clothing, new with tags,
Item # XXXXXXXXXX
And her complete address,
To:
Her name
Address, city,
Zip, auction ID .
Plus it was insured and it had DC.

So everything was correct and extra
How can it be returned to sender if the return address is incomplete?

Mail can be returned to you if the return address is incomplete

There is only one house on your street in your town with your number.

Also some people use just the letter of there frist name and spell out there last name this is not complete some will have the name and address but leave off the zipcode this to is incomplete as well if you used an incorect zip+4 you would be trageted.

My question why would you put the comtents of the package on the outside is this an invitation to thiefs ???

I can only tell you waht far larger seller on ebay then myself are saying since 9/11 they are haveing many of there Items returned as targeted the Reason incompete or in incorrect.

my postal clerk told me once that the package can be shipped again FREE if you have not tempered with it,like scribbling a new address (complete or partial) on the package.
you can try next time by just telling them you dont know why it was returned, you see nothing wrong with it and you have doublechecked the address,so lets try again?

I only hope there wont be "next time"
I was reading somewhere on eBay
That due to extensive searches by the PO
You should label your packages clearly stating that it's a ebay purchase,
And since the box was isnured I didnt worry about thieves.
Gotta go, thanks guys,
Have a great evening!
