Hi
Lately I have read ton of threads
About stolen pictures,
Well, there are two ways to steal
Pics, Right click the image or
View source code, many people
Dont read the code, so they use the right click option, well, here is a way how to dissable right click and you can even include a cute message (it will pop up when they try to right click it) like "forget about it "
Or "thanks for visiting and not taking my pics"
Or no message, just dissable to option,
Here is the code for it, just simple
Copy and paste to the body of description:
(highlight, and press CTRL and C to copy,
CTRL and V to paste)
(dont copy the ---- line, that's just to separate it from this part of the message.)
---------------------------------------------
<script language=JavaScript>
<!--
//Disable right click script III- By Renigade ([email protected])
//For full source code, visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com
var message="";
///////////////////////////////////
function clickIE() {if (document.all) {(message);return false;}}
function clickNS(e) {if
(document.layers||(document.getElementById&&!document.all)) {
if (e.which==2||e.which==3) {(message);return false;}}}
if (document.layers)
{document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);document.onmousedown=clickNS;}
else{document.onmouseup=clickNS;document.oncontextmenu=clickIE;}
---------------------------------------------
(dont copy the line above, that was just to separate it from the message,

I figered with the Xmas season coming there will be lots of "lazy people"
Taking our pics, so here is one way to spot that, I dont know how to stop stealing of text yet, but I'll let you know when I find out.
If this was already posted in the past, sorry,
I dont have the time to look up all threads and this is usefull info to have .

Well yes, but not many people
Read the source,
So this will help some people,
Two ways for them to steal it that way, get a fire wall, or there is this one girl,
She somehow did it,
He image dont come up when you read the link,
You get error message that the image is
Not available, I will ask her how she did it,
And if she replies I'll post it here,
I bought a thing from her and I wanted to send the pic of it to my aunt if she wants one
Too and I couldnt steal the pic or see it even though I had the link, so we might find a way

Well actually if you try to right click on an auction listing that uses that java script you do not get the menu box at all to even view source. Only a sweet little message that you choose to pop up. No more text stealing or image stealing now it's all protected. I've used it since day one on my auction listings and posted the java script above on an earlier thread regarding pics. If all sellers would use it there would be no more frustration or people complaining about this one stole this or that. It really does work.
If you want to see how it works go to one of my auctions at ebay and try to right click anywhere down in the auction description.
I will post my auction seller ID for a short time only before I remove it from this post.

You don't have to right click or use view page source. I can copy you ads and pics just by clicking 'file' and then 'save as', and save the whole page pictures and all. The pictures are even saved into a separate folder.
But the anti right click code works for those who think their PC works like a television, which is surprisingly quite a few people.

Like I said in another thread on this issue, there are ways around the disabling right click but usually if people are to lazy to do their own work they are to lazy to figure the way around it. Sometimes just seeing the warning of the pop-up message scares them off and they are off to someone elses auction listing to lift images and text.

Disabling right click will probably cost you more sales than some seller stealing your pics.
Many times, I will right click a pic so I can open it in my image viewer so I can zoom in on details of the image. If I was unable to view it, I would most likely move on to another seller. It is like listings without shipping, to much trouble to email and hope you get a reply. Just move on to a seller who makes the bidding easiest.
I think a better approach is to watermark or otherwise identify the picture as being yours.
Of course the standard disclaimer about opinions applies.

I agree. I take dark auction pictures and brighten them with my viewer software. You'd be surprised how much detail comes out with brightening the picture.

I don't steel pictures per se but I like to save jewelry pictures and that is real easy to do. Just rt. click and it will say save the picture to (I use a floppy) disk and then I have the picture. I never use them for an auction. I use them only to view how things are put together. I would never think of using anyone's pictures and if someone used mine I would never know it because I don't surf around.
