Hi. I may regret this bid , but I thought I would tryit!!. I bid on an item from France with francs listed. I bid on it in francs and won. I had written the seller earlier in the auction with a question. Seller spoke no English. My husband and son speak some French so together were able to write the inquiry in French and read the reply. I have won now and received no EOA. I think I need to go ahead and figure out how to send francs. Can I send an International MO for the francs amount or do I have to do it through a bank? We are going to try to write the seller to see what the shipping will be but thought I would get some info about how to pay. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

how much is the item??
if he accepts credit card,it would be the best arrangement as you will be charged the best exchange rate.and when the cc statement comes, you pay your cc in dollars.
if not,ask if he will accept us dollar euqivalent, some sellers are also buyers, they hoard us cash to buy from us sellers, but if he does not speak english,it is less likely he buys from us sellers.
other options are doing bank wiretransfer which would cost both you and him a fee.
another is to buy a french franc draft from american express or your bank or some travel agency which will sell you foreign exchange .
look up yellow pages under foreign exchange and shop around, good luck,

It is 40.00 FRF which is only 5.38 US. I am going to have my son and husband put together an e-mail since I haven't heard from the seller. I think this is an individual so I doubt he would take a credit card. If I buy an Inter. Money Order can I do that at the PO and if I pay the dollars can he cash it for Francs there. Thanks for the info.

Be very careful when using foreign currency. I just received a money order in pounds, I told the buyer, US dollars only... Took it to my bank and with conversion rate and a $17.50 coversion fee the buyer is $22 short. Still working on this one.

should have turned around ,left the bank and return his money order and asked him to try again in us currency.
these buyers should either use their credit cards or send cash for small amount.of course some may have access to american express office or have way to wiretransfter to you for small fee,in that case, watch out your bank will charge you a fee for accepting incoming wire.
