Paypal's new email format uses HTML, and color. I bet the print cartridge sellers like this new format

You print out the entire thing? I just copy and paste what I need, and print out that.

I always print out the first page. Well I guess you can go through all of them and cut and paste if your time isn't worth much. Cutting and pasting docs with HTML is a pain in the a** too.

Set your printer to economy and grayscale and you will save a LOT of ink. I only print page one of paypal invoices as it has all the necesssary info. Same thing with ended e-bay auctions.

Just curious, why do people print out the paypal payment? I just use the information from there, and create an invoice I use for a packing slip, and file the paypal message in an email folder in case I need to use it again - I've never had to, plus they do have a transaction history...

me too,why are you printing paypal messages?
i dont even have a packing slip or invoice, most buyers have no probem tracking items where they come from.
i wish paypal email will tell me how much they deduct as fee,so i can book the fee rightaway in my ledger

Apparently those of you that store your records digitally on your PC have never had a HD crash or lose all your saved email, or some other problem that requires you to re-install the OS and you lose all your saved files. Even buying a new PC creates the same problem unless you buy the software and cables to transfer files or slave your old HD and copy everthing over.
Not only do I save all Paypal payment email, I also print out the first page and stamp them with the date shipped and store them for 1 year. I also staple any insurance or DC receipts to them in case of a dispute.
Do I do this because it is fun ? No. I do it from experience with credit card companies, shippers, and a few shady buyers.

I bet you could refund a few shady buyers and even a charge back or two with all the money you spend printing!
My time is too valuable for all that. I started out doing the same thing. Printing everything, stapling copies of payments, etc to invoices and keeping them filed. Now I just copy info for a print label and go on with my business. If my computer should crash, Paypal has the transactions on file for as long as I would need them. Knock on wood, but I have only had to refund one item-- out of several thousand sales-- which the buyer claimed did not arrive. Even if I had to refund one each month it would be easier and quicker than all the printing I used to do.

I like the new format of the PayPal notices. They're much "cleaner" and easier to use for my purposes than the old messy version.
Reamond is correct about the need for keeping your old emails. The best way to go about this IMO is to periodically archive your old emails onto CDRs or CDRWs. CDRW drives are so inexpensive these days that any person running a business (even as a hobby) would be unwise not to have one. And blank CDRs are dirt cheap.

I'm not worried about a HD crash, that is what data backup is for. I suppose if you are using AOL or something like that, there might be a problem, but I am quite confident that if my computer did crash, I will have the data I need. Plus, Paypal does keep a transaction history, and I can always retrace my steps through my invoicing system, which is backed up as well! I simply can not imagine keeping a paper copy of everything. If it works for you, great, but between all of the auction and consulting invoices that are generated by me each month, for me it seems unmanageable.
