I have followed the Paypal posts for a while but did not see any recent ones on this issue.
I just had someone send me a credit card payment through Paypal. I have a personal account. Paypal sent a link to either deny or accept a credit card payment, but only if I upgrade to a Premier Account.
Is it worth it? I'm a part-time seller.
Thanks!

It's hard to answer if it is worth it. Is it in your terms of service that you do not accept payments that are sent via credit card instead of bank accounts? I like to keep it simple, give people as much opportunity to pay me. It's cheaper for me to accept checks, but I prefer paypal because I know I have the money. It's faster, too.

the only difference if you upgrade to premier account is that you will pay paypal a fee which will be deducted from the payment before it deposits into your paypal account.
i would go ahead and upgrade,so not to annoy your buyer(if you dont mind the fee).
since you are a partime seller,it is worthwhile to have a paypal account so buyers can send you payment via paypal, many buyers are paypal members and they use paypal a lot.
you can also apply for a paypal mc debit card and start spending that money at stores which accept mc.
to get a 1 1/2% cashback when you use that card, you will have to have a premier account.
i would go ahead and convert rather than ticking off your customer by denying the payment and ask him to use another payment method.

Don't upgrade your account. Just deny the payment and nicely tell the bidder to find another method of payment.

The same thing happened to me this past week. I knew that it would sooner or later. I went ahead and upgraded because so many people want to use it. It will cost me a little, but if I don't accept it I may lose the sales. I know some people don't agree with that, but here lately, the buyers just want to use it. I will use my debit card just so I can get the cashback thing. That way it won't cost me as much.

Good luck!

Prior to denying the payment, I would email the buyer first and explain that your account does not permit you to accept credit card payments and that you will have to deny his payment for this reason, but I would tell him I would gladly welcome his payment thru paypal if he can pay using an existing paypal balance or pay thru paypal with a transfer from his checking/savings account. I also kept my personal account and refuse to pay any more fee's.....it has not hurt my business and I still get lots of buyers using paypal in payment.

I get them ocassionally, I always deny them. I email the customer and explain again that I can not accept credit card payments via PayPal. Only once was this a problem and I rec'd a neg for it. I do not advertise that I even accept PayPal in my listing. I offer non credit card payments via PayPal in my end of auction notice only in big bold letters it says NON CREDIT CARD. People try it anyway. As one guy told me sometimes it goes even with a credit card. Lots of people that buy only have not realized that a personal account has gone from a $100 monthly limit to a ZERO limit and they just try to see if they can do it.

I do not WANT or NEED PayPal's credit card. And I certainly do not want to pay to receive money owed to me.

It is worth it to upgrade. I am a part time seller also.

In my opinion NO. But only you know how much of your profit you want to give away. Not advertise PayPal in my auctions has not seemed to hurt me at all.

And I sell full time.

No one has mentioned the fact that if you become a premier member Paypal takes the fee from ALL payment credit card or not. I had upgraded and found this irritated me to no end. I downgraded back to personal and have had to refused two credit card payments with no problem. I have in my auctions and end of auction notice No Credit Cards, sorry.
