I have been selling on Ebay for about 1 1/2 years and have not yet invested in a digital camera. I take pictures, get the film developed, etc. It takes too long and is a pain. Anyway, I think I am ready to buy a digital camera but don't want to spend a lot. Anyone have any suggestions on somewhat inexpensive cameras. Like under $300??? Thanks!

Put a little more with that and get a Sony Mavica. You can find them for a little under $400 and it is a great camera. If you buy a cheap one you will never be happy with it.

mavica will be phased out soon, there will just be cybershot.
so if you are patient, you just may get a sony mavica for less, say with sales tax,a little over 300.
sony sells remanufactured cameras on their site, you have to move fast as they are gone fast.
view the 2001 digital cameras survey by one of the camera magazine,it covers all the digital cameras and all sony mavica models are covered.

Yes Sony is getting rid of the floppy in the Mavica. I picked up one last week for $199.99 at a Sony outlet store. It is refurbished but good. Do you live by a Sony outlet store? Don't buy a cheap one. Invest in a good one and that will make you more money in the long run. I can speak for experience. I have two that I want to sell. Well only one because one that I have takes great scenery pictures. 200 at a shot and they are great but close ups are awful.

To see if you live by an outlet store. go to

http://www.sony.com and enter outlet stores in the search area. It will bring up all the outlet stores they have.

It depends on what you sell. Do you need good close-ups? I have no experience with Sony Mavica, but have used the Olympus D400 Zoom. This was rated as the best 1 megapixel cameras when they first came out. Top quality parts you'd expect from a 35mm camera, but works digitally. Amazingly, it has not gone in price for many years even though other cameras have been released. I think its the macro (closeup) shots that a lot of sellers appreciate.

I love my mavica 73. I bought it for the convenience of the floppy disk, I didn't want to have to install the camera and use a cable.

Then I bought the mavica 300 thinking that if I liked the floppy, I'd LOVE the cdrom. Well, I was wrong, the 300 was way too complicated and I returned it the next day.

The mavicas should be quite inexpensive now, especially on ebay. But I'd be certain the seller was reputable.

Not my name on ebay.

Ditto on the Olympus 400 Zoom - absolutely excellent.

On a scale of 1 to 10...we'd all weigh a lot less!
