Wow, Read the forums. It sounds like we use PayPal at our own peril. Anyone using c2it?

Hi nufsaid,

People can make all kinds of comments on the internet. All customer situations that arise are resolvable.

There is an abundance of information on the internet about many companies. It doesn't, however, mean they are true. Selective information is easily presented out here.

I came across this site when I was searching for IPO information. A news site that I also came across stated Paypal has the highest chargeback rate compared to any related service (I can't recall the exact wording, may have been comparing to all banks). Then I go and read the forums on paypalsucks.com and I have to admit, I am really concerned. The post that really struck me is he stated "paypal helps buyers steal." It sounds ridiculous until you read posts here on AW from buyers who talk about doing chargebacks even for little things. Where is the seller protection against such actions? I read about paypal closing seller accounts for investigations, are they doing it because of an overzealous buyer?

Like I said, I like paypal, it's cheap and easy to set up, and many ebay buyers use the service, but I also haven't had the problems that has plagued many sellers to cause me not to like paypal. I just know it's a matter of time before my number comes up.

I agree with Paypaldemon. However it dont say much for paypal when there is all this information saying soo many things about one company mostly negative. Surely that proves there is a problem with the service/company!.

Hi,

Chargebacks are a right granted to consumers. PayPal does remove users that file excessive chargebacks, but this is an option we can't deny users (because of the rights granted to consumers). Chargebacks are an individual action taken by a buyer---PayPal does not initiate the chargeback.

We have a large customer base. Divide the total number of complaints posted by the overall numbers---it will be exceptionally low.

It is of my opinion and JMHO that if more people knew how to complain, ie this message board and others listed, they would.

Everyone knows my opinion of PayPal and any of you that might have won my auctions recently know it quite well as it is in my tos.

I get many many replies from people asking why and they did not know. I now point them to a canned message I have about paypal and my personal experiences as a buyer, the list of sites that complain about paypal which there is a good list on the eBay boards right now and tell them how to use paypal properly to protect them selves and to rip off a seller if they want.

This also explains why I no longer take it.

I do get replies that say they had no idea it was so dangerous.

Jim

Chargebacks are rights granted to honest consumers, not to crooks. Why not freeze the buyers account and do not freeze the sellers until the seller is proven guilty? Have the buyer prove they did not receive package! Have the buyer prove the items wasn't as described!

While I like the idea, it is impossible to prove a negative......

Again, I like your idea, but who is going to determine which is which?

Buyers can pay for delivery confirmation. If they don't then they can't prove delivery.

Paypal automatically says a seller is guilty until the seller proves otherwise, they can certainly do the same with buyers.

So how does the buyer prove they did not get an item?
