Anyone here read this book and how useful did you find it? I'd hate to spend the $18 it costs if people didnt think it was worth while. Anyone have a copy to sell me?

I haven't read it, but chances are if you are selling on ebay already, you won't find much in it useful. My guess is it deals with things like taking pictures, image hosting, bulk listers, etc. I haven't read the book, but have seen the way other dummies books work.

I checked it out of our library. If you have any experience on ebay at all, DO NOT WASTE your money!
I checked it out about a year ago. There were already so many ebay screen changes, category changes, and rules that much of it is totally useless.
Anyone who has already, placed a bid and but an item up for auction don't need the book!
Since you have been around AW I assume you know how to find an item on ebay. If you don't know how to find an item or look in a category thwn you might want the book. NOT! WORTHLESS!

I bought eBay for Dummies because I was curious, and because at the time I was thinking about writing my own tutorial. The one good thing about it is that it covers a lot of topics.
However, the information never gets below the surface and is entirely superficial. The writer has little eBay experience, and while some of the advice is good, some in fact violates eBay rules. Also, it is badly outdated and contains much misinformation.
If you have any selling experience, you already know more than what the book has to offer.

It's a basic book that will help you get started. You can get the same info for free on the net, but it is more convenient to have it all in one place in a book. The "Dummy" books do a great job of explaining in simple language. If you're looking for secrets or information based on experience, forget it.
I have the "official ebay guide" book that I want to sell, pretty identical to the "dummy" book.
Don't waste your money. You can read up on whatever you need to right on eBay. If it's not in the tutorials, go to the appropriate chat/message board. You'll get an answer there 99% of the time.
If you can't get the answer there, come here. The AW board experts are way better than plowing through a book. They've been there done that.

I agree with McJane. Why waste time and money reading the outdated opinions of an amateur when you can come to AW and consult with professionals for free?
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Dennis Prince is the guy who wrote articles for AW.
I made more money selling my own manual than what I'd get for the "official ebay guide," and it wasn't even remotely as detailed, but it had additional info for sellers.

What about the Ebay board game? Has anyone seen those at the stores? Let's play bid high on something and then be a deadbeat! LOL.
