All day I have been after my youngest daughter to clean up her mess in the toy room.
She came to the computer in tears to complain about her big sister getting mad at the messes she made.
"That's OK, honey," I said, "Your toy room will be nice and clean after I pick up the toys, put them in a nice box and list them on eBay under Huge Lot Of Toys 4-Year-Old Girl Used To Play With."
Needless to say, the toys are now put away.
Gotta love eBay .....

WOW! I have to try that!
I have been after my daughter to pick up her books all week. She has a bookcase and they are in a pile on the floor.
I think I will call her in here right now....
Thanks Becky!

I've actually tried that on my boys and it didn't work...maybe it's a boy thing. Maybe I should try putting my 14 y.o. on ebay

The first time we tried this with our son, he actually helped us empty his room. Once all his toys were out, then he whined and cried. It worked for all of about 5 seconds, and then the room was messy again.

Yes, actually I have auctioned off some of their toys and I don't think they even noticed! Heaven forbid I touch their computer or game boy, though. THAT they would notice

I tried this approach but it didn't work. My 8 year old son just looked at me with a straight face and said "how much do you think I can get for all this stuff?".

Don't laugh, we tried that with our son and actually listed some of his stuff, including an old Power Rangers Megazord. The kid got $60 for it!
