I just received an email from Half.com telling me I have to make a decision whether to combine my feedback from the two sites. If I don't, I have to find a new email address to use with my Half.com account. The main reason I DON'T want to combine them is because I have perfect feedback on Ebay of nearly 2100 while on Half.Com I have a few negatives, which would be transferred over to Ebay. I'm curious how other sellers who sell on both sites feel about this idea of combining the feedbacks and whether people plan to do it or keep their accounts separate. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of combining or not combining the feedbacks? I've actually found Half.com buyers to be more ruthless with the negs, giving them for minor infractions like a cracked jewel case with a CD. One guy even gave me one for not including a packing slip. My inclination is to keep them separate and keep my Ebay feedback pure for as long as I can. Anyone else?

Same here, I have perfect 1600+ on ebay and have had questionable feedback on half.com - I chose to discard the half.com feedback, but MORE importantly than that, I will start a new half.com account with a different user id and email address. There is NO way I want the customers of half.com to ruin my ebay feedback. I have no choice really on how I ship on half.com, most of it has to be media mail. My complaints were all against shipping, and unfounded. Until this is resolved, I have "gone on vacation" on half.

I have nearly perfect feedback on both sites but since I am trying to reach my still elusive red star this year, I'm considering the combination. I don't think a single bidder/buyer makes that much of a couple of negatives received along the way. They probably don't even look at your feedback if your overall rating is high. When I look at a seller's feedback, all I try to see is how consistent they are and how they handle any negatives they might receive. At least now we will be able to respond to negatives we might get on half.

I thought about this for about an hour and then decided to get a new email address and keep the accounts separate. You can get a Hotmail account in about a minute and like ahc3 said here I don't really want my Ebay feedback compromised by the Half.com buyers. I'll be curious to see how business on both sites is affected once they truly merge the two.

I don't sell on half.com, but I do buy there once in a while... three last week. I feel foolish, but in all honesty, I didn't even know there was a feedback system there. I never looked around. I just search what I'm looking for, and if I want it, I buy it. I'm very different with my ebaY purchases. My point is, do you find users put off by bad feedback there and do you get as many feedbacks placed there ratio-wise to sales as with ebaY? If most users are like me (ummm, asleep at the wheel) then it might not matter if you use a different ID. I really don't think it's fair of them to force this on sellers, though. What does it bother them, really, if you have it the way it already is? They must be looking at a new fee system or something.
Liz... going off to look at half.com and see if I can enter some feedback. DOH!

No, Half.com buyers don't give feedback nearly as often as Ebay buyers do. I've probably sold 2000 items on Half and gotten about 300 feedbacks whereas on Ebay I've done about 5000 auctions and my feedback is about 2100. The biggest complaint of sellers on Half up till now has been that you can't respond to feedback. That's going to change with the new system.

Don't get me wrong, I am ALL in favor of having a feedback system where I can respond, so I will like that aspect of half.com. I think that is why people trash your feedback there, because they know the seller can not respond. I also keep different buying/selling accounts on ebay, now I will have to do the same for half. I don't do much business on half, but I certainly don't want it to affect all I have worked for one ebay.

I haven't gotten the message from half.com that I now have to actually make that choice - yet. Should I be worried?

Another question, though--what, on half.com, constitutes "negative" feedback and how will they translate that to ebay's 3-step system of feedback? The lowest I have ever gotten is a 4.5 ("slow shipping" of course) so would that be a negative?

Along with the email they showed how they will convert the feedback. 4s and 5s will be considered positive. 3s and 2s will be neutral and 1s will be negatives. They worked out some kind of system to adjust your feedback on Ebay to accommodate the Halff.com feedback. They also give you the option of getting rid of all of your Half. feedback but that means starting all over again, and I don't feel like tossing away 300+ positives because I had a few negatives.

...it disturbs me. I have a lot of good feedback on half.com. and I have mostly great fedback on ebay. However, there is just enough crazy feed back on half.com to make we stop and think.
Not long ago I mailed a $17 book that was brand new. Since it sold the day after I listed it and someone was waiting for it, it went out immediately. I know it was perfect, I read it the day before I sent it, stayed up all night.

The person wanted their money back, as they said it was not like new. (Usualy I would give in and say ok). I am not sure, but I think the "question to the seller" came in less time than the mail would have gotten it to the destination. Well, I said no and got a feed back saying I sent a book that was at most "acceptable." And it was a 1/5. That is vengeance.
I have a couple feedbacks where I do not think the buyer read the discription. I am debating how bad this would look on my feedback record. I believe we can reaspond to feedbacks that were left within the last 90 days. But I would like to have a larger number of feedbacks.

Think of all the poor sellers on Half that are saddled with 4.2 or lower ratings. These guys will get a clean slate on Half.

The new system still won't help sellers who get slammed by bad feedback that is unwarranted. You can respond but that's it. Maybe that's why Half is so aptly named.

Went back and looked at the message from half.com. If your half feedback is discarded, how do you suppose that will come across? Will you just have ebay sales, like you never sold on half.com? I did not see a place to ask.

The feedback thing on Half.Com was one of reasons I quit selling on it. I don't have two many negs on Half but I have none on E-Bay, so I gave them another e-mail address I don't intend to list anymore on there anyhow,it bring more on Amazon.

What is the difference betwen selling on ebay vs Half?
If I sell on Ebay why would I want to sell on Half?

Some of us sell large quantities of books on half.com (or other things). There is no listing fee, just a great amount of final value fee. And the convenience is that we have no access to the buyer and ebay collects the money, and the buyer leaves feedback, but the seller does not. It is a whole different set of customers. completely controlled by ebay.

I would never consider leaving feedback at Half.com.

Ebay is like a flea market. You deal with the sellers individually. You get to know them, somewhat. Feedback is appropriate.

Half is a consignment shop. I have bought 20-30 books on half. If I ever had a problem, I would write half and I would hold them accountable. If not satisfied, I would charge back half.com.

I never even noticed the feedback at half. Half is responsible for a good transaction for me, period. If half chooses to get consignment goods from a fraud, they are responsible.

I will not combine my accounts at half and ebay, just for that reason. I don't want a charge back to half.com to effect my status at Ebay. In fact, now that I think about it, I probably won't ever register or buy from half.com again, just to avoid such an issue and jeapardize my ebay acount.
