Okay, here's the problem. I'm selling a Japanese tin-toy robot, mint in box, for my son-in-law. It has 9 days to go, but the current high bidder has a NEGATIVE 1 feedback and a neutral also warning against him. Both feedbacks say he doesn't communicate when auction is over and doesn't pay. ("Momo1910", if you'd like to look at his feedback.) Auction number is 1081701166. I know it's early in the game with many days to go, but I'd like to block him and don't know if it's possible. Advice, please?!

I would definitely cancel his bid and also add him to your blocked bidder list.

Hi Roadsmith,

If it were me, I'd cancel his bid in a heartbeat! You have three other bidders with good, decent feedback.

Better now than later, you've got plenty of time left. Be glad. You'd be stuck with him if he'd waited until the last minute to bid.

You'll need to put in a reason. Something about the negative/neutral feedback will do.

To cancel the bid, go to the bottom of your My eBay page. On the left, under Seller Related Links, Managing your auctions, there's a link - Cancel bids on my item.

There's also a link to Block or pre-approve certain bidders. Block him as soon as you've cancelled the bid.

You have a very nice item for sale. I'm sure you'll do well with it.

I would cancel his bid too. Maybe he will catch on, get a new user ID, clean up his act & do it right next time.

He needs to learn a lesson.

That's a very nice toy, I also think it will do well.

It worked! I just don't know how to thank you all for your help. Guess I'll just keep helping others when I know the answer, to pass on the good will.

WOW. I looked at the buyer's old and current auction bidding, and he just won two more tonight (the 8th). Those poor sellers. And the items are all Japanese toys. How awful for the sellers.

Yes, I agree he needs to learn a lesson. Totally frightening to me that someone like that is allowed to bid.

Wish there were a way for Ebay to look at someone like that and put the fear of the Lord into him before he does more damage. Should he be reported to Safe Harbor? Would you do so if you were me?

These very bad bidders are a real pain. When they use the BIN function the sellers are really stuck with them. Yahoo has a very nice feature that lets all sellers set the minimum feedback rating that the bidders must have to bid on their auctions. A (0) minimum feedback rating setting eliminates these poor bidders from bidding on most auctions. eBay is VERY greedy and allows these very poor bidders to bid and buy with abandon on their site with no care for the sellers.

You have to realize though that a 0 FB rating doesnt mean a bidder is bad news. We ALL started with a 0 feedback at first.

Who said anything about a (0) feedback being bad? I love bidders with a (0) feedback rating. A bidder or buyer with a (-1) or worse is a whole different story.
The beauty of the Yahoo system is if a (0) bidder burns you can can banish him to limbo by giving him a negative if he stiffs you and a (-1) bidder can not touch your stuff unless you want him to do so. I've had only 1 deadbeat in the last 50 buyers at Yahoo is there is no reason to set the minimum feedback above (0). eBay could slightly modify Yahoo's system by making the only settings (0) , (-1) or (-2).
