To paraphrase an old light bulb joke: How many buyers does it take to correctly add the final price and the shipping charge? The answer is four. Two to misread the terms of sale while the other one checks their arithmetic.
I'm a casual seller. Since December first I've closed 10 auctions and had: 3 non-paying bidders, 1 who signed for the package and claimed he never got it, and 3 who added the shipping wrong. It's enough to make me take up spamming or some other more honorable profession.
If they can't read Bold black and white do it in colors.
I always tell them exactly what they owe. My is worded like this:
Thank you for your winning bid on the widget for $15.00. S/H 1st class is $3.50 for a total of $18.00. Now if they can't get that then they shouldn't be bidding on eBay.

Well, at least this buyer knows that $15.00 and $3.50 equals $18.50 and NOT $18.00. I think it's time sellers learned some simple arithmetic!

Sorry about the post I made. I was in a delema about my ISP and outlook express and of course I added wrong. Anyone knows it is $18.50. Sorry about that. This has been a week from (you know where). EOA notices that are going to be 24 hours old are still sitting in the ISP's mailbox waiting to be delivered to my mail box so I had to move everything over to my hotmail address and send emails from there. I hope you all had a good laugh and a better day than I had. But as I stated use bold. Oh my, I really can't believe I did that.
