I'm having trouble downloading AW BE edition and their AMPro. The moderators suggested I disable my Norton antivirus for the download and then reactivate it when it's done. Anyone know how to disable it temporarily?

There should be an icon in your system tray. It looks kind of like a computer and is blue and red. When you place your cursor over it, it says Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Enabled. Just right click on that icon and choose Disable Auto-Protect.

The icon for your virus is located in the lower right corner of your computer in the area where your scanner picture, MSN, time, volume etc. is located. You need to put your arrow on your virus icon and right click it a pop up box will appear and there is a line that will say deactivate your virus. Click that and then when you are through downloading click it again and then activate it again.

Thanks!! That worked to deactivate it, unfortunately I still run AW software, though. They don't know what the problem is either..

Are you running behind a firewall? I just upgraded mine and my firewall is now interfering with programs it never did before including some of my auction software.

I don't have a firewall, although I do have a linksys router on this computer which they said in another thread is as good as a firewall. Never thought of that, but I really don't want to disconnect that.

Do you have an ISP? If so call and ask them what to do. They might beable to help you. When did you upgrade your browser? There is so much to learn about these computers, they make you feel dumb. Also if you have a compaq you can write to them and ask a question and they won't charge you.

I guess my ISP would be road runner. I think I've used the old ampro version with that. I also have a dell computer which I've had for awhile. I hate to call Road Runner because I feel guilty for have a router on my computer. I feel like I'm stealing their service (even though I know it's legal).
