Hi everyone- it's the "newbie" here again. I was just wondering, when is the best time to have your auctions end? Is it in the evenings or on weekends or what? Also, what is the busiest season on eBay? Is it during the summer, Christmas time, or no particular time? What has seemed to work best for you guys?

The busiest times on Ebay seems to be Autumn into Winter, but not January.
In my experience, the best ending time on Ebay is totally based on your specific audience. What time of day would the person bidding on your product be online. This is important because many people use the ending soon sort methods, or don't like bidding on something that just got listed. Unfortunately, you need to do some research to match your personal products to the customer. I find doing searches on ebay for the type of product I am selling and then seeing how the 'pros' do it works well for me.

Good Luck!!

There are no infallible rules about when to place or close an auction, but I think it is generally agreed that Sunday evening is best.

However, active sellers with more than say a couple of dozen items, will often scatter their auctions to close througout the week, even at different times. Say the seller deals in many styles of watches. This way they have at least a couple of watches closing at any given time and they will appear near the top of the search.

Within the auction description there will be a link to encourage bidders to see their other auctions. This results in a certain number of potential buyers looking at their complete offerings whatever time they decided to browse ebay.

I personally use a variety of days for auction closings, preferring to end in the mid evening. If there is a poor selection of programs on tv on a particular evening, the ebay activity picks up noticeably for me.

There is a seller of porcelain china I know who swears by 3 pm on Wednesday being the absolute best time to end his auctions.

You will find yours, too, I am sure.

And a little P.S. If you do check to see when other sellers of your item are closing their auctions, consider closing yours at a completely different time so your item has its chance to shine without nearby competition.

I read somewhere that most people are online and on auction sites during the day, for what it's worth. I just scatter my stuff now at my convenience. If somebody is really hot for it they'll proxy or snipe. Around noon EST this week I got over $25.00 for a wastepaper basket I found in the trash. (-:

The best thing to do is to vary your closing days and times. You will find that a certain person that bids on a Sunday may not have the opportunity on a Wednesday and vise versa. I always do my relists on a different day than my original listing so these people will have an opportunity to see the items closing on different days. You will find that better than half of your bids will come in the last 6 hours of the auction.
Good luck in your auction sales,

I sell as a sideline, for extra cash. So I schedule my endings to work with MY schedule. I launch on Mondays for 5 day auctions. By closing Sat. night, the kids are down and I can send out my first emails. I have so many pay by Paypal, that I can use Sunday to package and get ready to make a PO run on Monday. I also can use the weekend to prepare auctions for launch on Monday.

I used to list every evening of the week, especially on weekends as that's when I believed most buyers of my items were at home bidding. However, I've now cut out Friday and Saturday evenings as I was being run ragged--eBay and the internet were taking over all my free time. So--keep your own schedule in mind as you list. I now double up on my Thursday and Sunday evenings instead. Same number of items--but I don't have to monitor the computer all weekend.

From personal experience, basing your ending times on your schedule is ineffective as the payment from buyers from varies. Its the payment that gets the package out the door, so ending times seems less important. Ending Monday and Thursday nights work great for me.
