I've been running a business using Ebay for almost a year and have a feedback score over 500 with very few negatives (and only 1 in the last month). I sell over $10,000 in items a month.

My account was suspended today because Ebay says "Our records indicate that your account is associated with the following Previously Suspended account(s):"

I'VE NEVER HAD A PREVIOUSLY SUSPENDED ACCOUNT and I checked the account that I'm accused of being linked to and it was suspended in March of 2001.

Is there anything I can do other than write to [email protected] and pray for a response. I DON'T NEED A FORM RESPONSE - I want to talk to an actual person to clear up this mistake.

Does anyone have any access to Safeharbor's phone #'s or people to contact and ask about how I can get my account unsuspended? Is there any sort of appeal process???

Any help would be appreciated.

800-322-9266 is one ebay # I have. Maybe someone else here can help.

Do you know if a family member was ever suspended? Perhaps someone with the same name as you?

ebay has been known to make mistakes. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

have you ever allowed others to access their ebay account on your pc??
have you ever accessed your ebay account on other people's pc??
are you the sole owner of your bank account, credit card ??
telephone number,address etc
an interesting point/question for other aw members-in the past some ebay/paypal sellers have their accounts restricted or suspended because they allowed deadbeats to use their pc to access their accounts, what happens if we access our paypal/ebay accounts on potential deadbeats pc and isp??

I access my account from other people's PC's or from public PC's all the time, but no more than a couple times (per different point of entry) and certainly not very often. Well over 99% of the time I use my home PC, which is not related to a prior suspended account (my ISP attbi.com took over for @home only about three months ago). Shouldn't Ebay check for that kind of thing? I'll try the phone #.
I've sent three emails to Safeharbor with no response so far. Is there any other way to contact them?

If you're doing that much a month in sales, and you haven't violated eBay's TOS, contact a lawyer and keep track of your losses.

you said,
I access my account from other people's PC's or from public PC's all the time/////////////////////
This may be the source of your problem there??
it does not matter how many times you accessed, all it takes is ONCE!!
same goes with paypal account.

I would think if you did $10,000 + a month on eBay you would be a power seller and have access to their so called special e-mail address and phone number.

Just curious -- $10,000 a month, over a year, and only 500 feedback? What do you sell, real estate or cars, computers, high-end items I guess?

Why aren't you a power seller? Only 1 neg this month and not many total? How many is not many?

all it takes is one luxury car per month or 10 laptops per month to achieve 10,000 a month sales.

For those in the know I sell computer components. I have (had) over 600 positives and 23 negatives. To be a power seller, I would have had to have less than 12 negatives because you have to have 98% positive. Most of the negs were from an item I don't sell any more (cable modems) because they attracted a lot of teen or otherwise moronic bidders.

I used a friends power seller rep # and he told me there was nothing he could do since the PS reps and safeharbor are in different areas.

Ebay contacted me and told me "we know your associated with the previous account, but we can't tell you how, because that would jeopardize our methods to weed out prior suspended users".

They suggested I file and appeal and correct whatever deficiencies were in the old account (which I never had). I'm waiting for a response back.

Due to their high-handed, star-chamber way of handling this situation, I am considering hiring an attorney. Or maybe when I graduate from law school in a month or so, I can represent myself.

[i]maybe when I graduate from law school in a month or so, I can represent myself[/]

Graduating doesn't mean a thing.

Do yourself a really big favor: first, pass the bar!

... then persue a "real" law career instead of these nonsense threats against eBay. You guys really need to realize that eBay does not care one iota about you, and you really need to get on with real life.

what do you mean by using a friend's power seller rep # ??
if you are not a power seller, calling the power seller hot line may do you no good??
you said you dont sell cable modems, and bidders neg you??did you list them on ebay?how could buyers neg you for things you have not listed and sold??
you have friends on campus and dormitory sharing pc with you??

Really, really research that closed account. If you used a friend's computer, who had that account in his or her name, then to eBay it may appear that the account is "associated" with you. Ditto with a computer you might have used in the library shortly after another eBayer used it and left a cookie trail behind.

Do as they suggest and file an appeal, AFTER you've made absolutely certain that there is no way this closed account could be attached to you. And if it is, in some bizarre manner, then write an explanation to file with your appeal.

STOPWHINING: This person USED TO sell cable modems, which caused him som problems with negs, but no longer sells them.
