Has anyone here checked into the USPS send money online service?

http://www.paypalwarning.com/Alternatives/Default.htm

I'm wondering if it may become a good alternative to PayPal.

Have not tried them as yet, billpoint is also good.

"I'm wondering if it may become a good alternative to PayPal."

Problem is that so many people do use paypal that its hard to get anyone to switch as long as its so easy to use.

From what I can tell it will be free to the seller and inexpensive for the buyer.

That would be nice..

i went to the website and saw some brief information.
yes,it would be nice for the seller who does not want chargeback but it does not say much of what happens if the buyer does not have enough money in the account??
is the money reserved once the two parties engage in buy/sell transaction, and released to the seller when dc confirmed??
what happens if the buyer is not happy with the item?>does he complain to usps, does usps want to get involved in the squabbles??
can the buyer go to the bank and try to get it reversed?/
i find it hard to believe usps wants to create a customer service area just to hear all the squabbles,if not ,then there is no protection for the buyer.
also this will only appeal to buyers who is cash rich!!!!

If you are referring to pay@delivery. I would avoid that like the plaque. Too much potential for problems.

For auctions that require a money order (which I tend to avoid because it is a pain to get them) this might be a good alternative, but I really tend not to bid on those auctions unless there is really a good deal.

i dont know what is pay@delivery?i am talking about usps payment service??
i guess it is like sending a money order except you dont have to buy a money order and it is automnatically released to seller once dc is swiped at destination.
by,usps must have a lot of faith in their DC.

I've found that BidPay (www.bidpay.com) works extremely well for MO's...and since it is owned by Western Union, there is name recognition for the buyers...very easy, very safe.

I do not believe that BIDPAY is OWNED by western union. They just issue Western Union money orders. Like PayingFast.com issues Traveler Express money orders.

The seller receives the money after the buyer receives the item. With all the horror stories about the PO messing up with Delivery confirmation I bet sellers wouldn't receive half their payments. Not a bad deal for buyers though, just won't be able to find a seller who will take it.

pay@delivery is an option similar to what you were referring to wich Combines USPS Send Money with Priority Mail® Delivery Confirmation™; The buyer's funds are released to the seller after the Priority Mail® delivery is confirmed.

I found their information a bit confusing but Send Money on the other hand seems to work just like PayPal except the fees are reversed. Buyers can send a payment online to anyone with an email address for slightly more than the cost of a postage stamp.

I am assuming the recipient would also need a USPS account?

lurking is not an option
