I posted a listing on Ebay and in the description I state that the winner must contact me for shipping/handling charges.
I use Auction watch to post listings. The shipping shows as 0.0 which is correct because I must calculate based on destination.
I have a customer who paid via paypal before contacting me for the shipping charge.
I notified the customer and promptly refunded the payment and asked the to resubmit payment with the shipping/handling.
Now the customer is claiming that I am not honoring the contract and that if I do not let him out of the bid then he will notify Ebay. Now why does this sound like a threat?
I explained that I would try to release him but the only way to recover my FV fee is to report the transaction as non-payment.
If I post shipping on the auction listing I would be setting myself up for a loss because the fee will vary according to the destination.
I would like your recommendations on dealing with the unhappy customer and the shipping charge dilemma?

This happens to me all the time. You are dealing with an auction bully. They think that you will go along with their bullying scheme and sell your item for what they want to pay (for shipping). These people are idiots and ebay is rampant with them. Be ready to have problems with this AAAAhole and more of them in the future because at least 20% of your transactions will be trying to deal with these tresspassers to your mental wellbeing. I know I sound cynical but over the last year or so it seems like all the jerks of the workld have started buying (LOL) on ebay. GOOD LUCK !

You can always file for a non-payment with the reason that both buyer and seller have mutually agreed not to complete the transaction. The buyer gets an email for verification and it doesn't leave a black mark against them for nonpaymet. You can do this anytime after the auction has ended an you don't have to wait for 10 days...
I've done it a couple of times and I find that it's much easier to just agree not to sell the item to the buyer and offer it up for auction once more....
