Half.com has been totally quiet for me in sales for at least 3 weeks. I keep going to my account to see if I'm missing any sales but nope.

Half.com reminds me a little of that old game called "Name That Tune". The object of that game is to guess the song in the least possible notes. On Half.com the sellers constantly lower their prices to have the most attractive price available. A seller lists 40 items and he has the best prices on all 40 items in their condition. He checks back in a week and only 30 are the best deal. He checks in another week and only 50% of his items are the best deal. The seller must cut his prices to get a shot at selling his items and the other sellers are doing the same thing. Definite supply and demand.

Before 9-11 I made a substantial living selling books on Half.com. For weeks after the Attacks on America I literally had no business, I mean not one single order. Things started to pickup And eventually got better but has not gone back to the pre 9-11 days. I now make just about enough to cover my mortgage payment with over 5197 books listed there for sale.

My drop off has coincided with the "closer alignment" with ebay, although I can't figure out why. Half.com orders are down about two thirds.

Sales on half.com seem to be cyclical, with little bursts of activity at the end of the month when coupon promotions are about to expire.
I have listed there since it was independent, and of course did much better when ebay was not involved. However, even though there may be months that go by without my listing anything new, I have yet to miss getting enough sales to have the bi-monthly payments go through.
Lately I have placed a lot of my new listings at Amazon, the primary reason being their data base is much more complete than the one used by half. And I will soon go back over the items half claimed didn't exist and check them in the Amazon data base.
Bottom line is my half.com sales are slowly declining while my Amazon sales are increasing.
