How about your local internet access provider. That's always worked for us.

I just started using a hosting site for all of the comic books that don't sell on eBay - it also gets me off the AW plans for image hosting.

I have always used Microsoft FrontPage for my web development, so that sort of dictated which hosts I would use.

I recently found a software package called StoreFront 5.0 that uses Active Server Pages and either Access or SQL Server as the data base engine. It provides a complete shopping cart function.

I then narrowed down my search to sites that supported both. I went to the StoreFront newsgroup (which is incredibly responsive and informative) and asked around.

My new site StreetLifeComics.com is hosted by Applied Innovations http://www.appliedi.net/services.html.

Their technical support response has been fantastic and they really understand what it takes to help a "start-up" web site.

I've decided that until business takes off, I'm only going to take PayPal. Depending on how things go, I'll set up a merchant account to process credit cards.

Hope that helps.

I use https://www.hostica.com for one of my sites. I pay $45.00 a year. It has worked fine without and problems.

For my other website I use a local company that charges $14.95 a month.

There are hundreds and hundreds of web hosting sites. You can go crazy researching them all

geocities.com still has free site hosting. Freeservers.com has one for $5/month. I have used both with success.

You might try the free one (Geocities) first as you figure out your site. That way you are not paying money while it is under development. Then you can transfer the whole thing at once to a pay site.

smenkveld, your question is so broad it is an open invitation for any user to plug a specific service. For all we know, you could be a professional forum spammer in conjunction with another forum poster. It would help if your questions were more focused.
