Hello Everybody,
I don't know if this question has been on the board lately: When using the free delivery confirmation forms on the USPS website, do you have to have the Postal clerk scan the label when sending? Or do they just scan the label at the receiving end? I thought for absolute sure that it used to be when you printed them off the USPS website, that info was entered into the USPS computers assuming you sent the package that day, and then the labels were just scanned on the receiving end and the deal was complete.
I just sent about 10 packages Priority on Monday that all weighed less than 1 pound, each having $3.85 in stamps and having the Del. Conf. label printed off the website. I simply dropped them off at the Post Office, assuming they would just be sent out and would just be scanned on the receiving end. I have checked each of the Conf. numbers on the website, and none have been posted with details, no details are included as far as when sent out or when received. Did the USPS change their policies/format??

They recently changed the system. It used to be that the print at home labels could only be scanned with a carrier scanner but a week or two ago they changed so they can be scanned at the counter also. I have seen them scanned - so they should be scanned after dropping in the box unless some of the smaller post offices are perhaps not changed over.

i was told that the e/delivery confirmation codes are not supposed to be scanned when you bring them in for shipping. so i am assuming they are scanned at the receiveng end. i thought maybe this was just because the lady didnt know what she was talking about but i was told the same thing on my second trip later in the week.

When I went to the PO yesterday, They scaned my priority E-labels, but no charge was added to payment. Guess they changed the system.

The USPS system does automatically enter the DC number into the system. If your local PO scans it again it will not cause a problem. To verify this enter the DC number into the USPS tracking system box several hours after
printing but before dropping the boxes off at the PO. I use their VCR tape size boxes for most all my shipping & will drop them into the mail boxes, (it's a tight fit, but they will fit). Haven't had a problem

I have been using web-based Delivery Confirmation labels since last year and there is usually no information posted on the PO website about the package untill it is received. Sometimes it will say "this package is scheduled for delivery on..." but lately it hasn't even said that.
