Please could you give me some advise.. I know nothing about html or things like that I tried to use them once and had one heck of a time.. Heres the thing I want a nice auction with nice background, nice font colors and etc. I thought this Aw would help me do that but so far I understand this as much as html.. Does anyone know how I can create a neat auction without trying to fry my brain with html? I would appreciate this help greatly.

Well, people have different ideas of what a nice auction page should look like. Most buyers don't appreciate a background if it takes longer to load the auction. They are interested in buying your item, not your auction page.
I worked for a couple of years with plain backgrounds (still do) and no 'extras' in my font - and had nice, clean auction pages.
But if you do want to add color, etc., I know of no way to do it except html. I'm not saying there isn't a program out there that will do it for you - but you would have to learn the program, so why not learn a little html?
And eBay offers one of the best, and it's free. It will open to a 'side window', so you can keep it up while you are working. (It doesn't have a url, per se; go to eBay "Help", then follow: Topics > Seller Guide > Listing Your Item > Writing a Title & Description > HTML.
Oddly enough, I brought up an old post this morning about using ubb code on this board; html works the same way.
I promise you, if an old computer-illiterate has-been like I can learn it, you can too.
Good luck, and let us know how you do. (Yeah, practice a little ubb here....it will make the html easier then.)

There's thousands of HTML sites on the web that can help you. Many of them you can practice on. You don't have to fry your brain, just write down or print out the tags and reference them when making out the listings.

HTML is very simple if you remember that every thing is within < & > Here are some easy things to remember. <b> = bold; <font color=blue> gives you color of font, you choose the color. <font size=+2> This gives you font size, you choose the size.<u> = underline; </u> no underline; <p> = [paragraph; <center> = center on page.
Set up an ad & play with it until you have something you like. If you use AW templates you have choices of colors & styles, Depending on how many pics I have with an ad, I use #4 or #5. I use a blue font & size +2. Makes a very pleasant looking ad, sometimes I will interject a red font in the ad to describe dimensions. This really makes them stand out from the rest of the ad.
I am glad to pass this on as I was given this about 2 yrs. ago from a customer. Now its my turn to help someone else.

I use Front Page. It is part of Microsoft Office. Though I know HTML, Front Page works well for both novice and experienced users to build decent looking pages with just a little bit of effort. My pages are not the most gorgeous, but they serve my purpose. You can take some time to build something nicer with it. Best of luck!

Hey cheapskates, why not use the sponsor of these pages? They really do have nice color templates. I like that all my auctions are the same color, makes them memorable.

bugler, I will pay but so far I haven't found something that will help me with backgrounds and adding graphics.. If you know such a place please let me know... I used sellers assistant and wasn't happy with the layout the background color only worked on a certain area of the auction page... If you have nice pages please let me take a look.

You can have very nice auction pages from right here on AuctionWatch. Click on the Sales Manager tab, then Create Listing.
Choose your auction site, then you will have a listing template to fill out. Further down the page, you can choose a template for colors, fonts, etc. You can customize your template by changing the fonts with HTML if you like, but there are plenty of very nice ones to use as they are.
Once you get the feel of it, you can always start tweaking them. If you have a bunch of info, as I do, that is inserted in ALL your auctions, you can set that in your seller preferences, and AW automatically inserts it!
I like AW's auction management system, and use it to keep my records!
