I would like to know if this is a good way to get rid of your excess items in a mixed box lot AND which catagory to list under for mixed items? Also,do any of you do Yahoo Auctions? Thanks for any info....

Box lots are an excellent way to unload a bunch of items that wouldn't sell well seperately. It has been very successful for me since I started doing it this year.
I put together lots that are related because I find they draw more bids. You want to do a mixed lot which may be harder to find a specific group of people interested in the lot. Try to pinpoint who your audience would be and break your lot down to related items if you have to.
When you say mixed lot, do you mean a mixed lot of book on Karate, camera and dishes, for example? Or, a mixed lot of baseball, football & Hockey cards?

Thanks for your reply.. I have a lot of glass items such as whatnot's, dishe's,xmas items, books. Also a box of baseball cards..
I know i will have to group related items to box, but may have to mix some box's..
I also posted a question on ebay's up and comming "fixed price" What do you think of it?

I look at boxlots quite a bit and I like ones that have somewhat the same items in them. Enter boxlot in the ebay search and see what they have and how they do it. There are quite a few sellers that do that.
I like the fixed pricing idea. I use a BIN on about 1/3rd of my auctions and it works out really well, until you get the person that bids the BIN price and it is in the regular catagory. Then you have to go in and end the auction. With the fixed price, as I understand it, there will only be 1 box to enter your bid.

That could be a tough sell. "Large Lots Wholesale Other" is the obvious choice but I'd rather still find a better target audience. You may have to find a very general target, For example- Women, then Practical Items, and put it in a General Household category. The more you can break the target down, the better bids you will get.
The upcoming fixed price is mainly aimed at Dutch auctions, so it is greatly needed for buyers who don't want to wait until auction end. Single item sellers always could have used a BIN for a fixed price.
