My father just recently passed away and had some original oil paintings and I wanted to see if any of these paintings were done by listed artists. Is there a database that lists artists from the late 1800's and early 1900's? I appreciate your help!

try entering the artist's name in the internet search and see what happens. If they are in any art places that have internet sites the name should come up.

There is a book published with every listed artist for the past 500 yrs. Go to any major library & ask for it. I am sorry, but I can't remember the name. Just ask for anything with listed artists. Jst remembered the name of the book. Davenport's Listed Artists.
