I was curious? What are some of you using as a return policy? I was thinking of updating mine and wasn't sure which direction to go. All sales final? Refund for inaccurate or mistake in description?(my current one) Or like the big boys, no questions asked? What are some of your thoughts?

Currently ads state "We go to great lengths to ensure that all products are accurately described. If you do not agree with the accuracy of the description after you receive your item, please let us know so we can quickly resolve the issue. Any request for return & refund based on an incorrect description must be made within 3 days of receiving item."

we have to do it by what we sell,
officialy all sales final,
in 305 transactions under one ID - designer clothes and shoes, we so far went againts our policy only twice and did refunds.
all + feedback and happy returning customers.

on our second ID we sell lingerie so we can NOT do any returns or exchanges due to the intimate nature of the items..
no complaints yet and lost of repeat business.

We sell clothing and our TOS states "If you are not completely happy with your purchase, let us know within 3 days of receiving your item and we will work with you to resolve your concern."

In over 1000 clothing transactions,we have had only 2 returns due to sizing errors in our listings.

Well, so far I haven't had to do one...YET.
But my policy is fair, I've been a bidder.
Plus I try to take photos like a person who actually gets to handle the merch would be feeling like when they look at it.
I am not that successful at it, but I do try.
;P
I play it by ear. I have a policy and it's fair, and I also mark my stuff with one of those little markers, so at least I have insurance.
Now I am starting to think I should list number of days etc.
hmmmm

My primary business is dinner china. My TOS states "My china is guaranteed as described" No questions asked, you return it & I refund your $$$. Have only had 2 complaints in 4 + yrs. On collectibles I make no guarantees & NO refunds.

This is mine and it is in my About Me page.
I have only had to refund twice....

I guarantee all my auctions to be as described. Please check pictures carefully before bidding. If you as a buyer aren't satisfied with the item a full refund, including postage, will be made if the item is returned within a reasonable time and it is the same item that is sent. Sometimes an item when described looks a little different in color and that is due to either the digital camera or scanner. This can't be helped. If I offer an item and the buyer thinks it is a fake the money will be refunded if proof is sent to verify that. I will pay the postage

I offer a complete refund if the item is beleived to not be as described, or if it is received damaged. In the last 4 years, I have only had 2 claims (due to shipment damage), that I have had to take care of. The last one, however, changed my feelings on the situation. I sell matted prints, and I used to say to just keep the damaged one and I will send you another. No more, since I felt the last claim was really a 'get 2 for the price of 1' situation. I now will ask for the damaged piece to be returned, before I send out another.

I do not put a return policy in my auctions. I have been lucky and only had a few returns in close to 5,000 sales. I do insure every item so there is not a problem with damage caused by USPS. Most of the returns I had were for something I missed telling in my description. In that case I refund all money including postage both ways. The couple I had that were buyer remorse I offered only the purchase price refunded.

Like Toolhound, I do not put a return policy in my TOS either.

I strictly play it by ear, but (with one exception) have always refunded total cost plus return shipping.

(The one exception: Items were deliberately damaged, and not in shipping. Buyer waited more than 10 days to even mention it to me, and in the meantime had bid on and won like items cheaper.)

I sell mostly software. My return policy is: Returns accepted if item is misdescribed or wrong item sent. Otherwise, all sales final. I do not state the policy in the ad.

I bought one software for resale the other day, because I got a good price on it. After researching the software and reading user reviews, I found most users either didn't have the system requirements (fast video card) or just plain didn't like the program. I won't put it up for auction because it looks like trouble.

I do not put anything in my TOS specifically with regards to refunds. Most of what I sell is $15 or less, so no one has even bothered to asking for a refund.

I also show lots of pictures and have a good description so there is no misunderstanding.

I bought something the other day on a whim. It was pretty inexpensive, so I figured I would take a chance. When it arrived, it turned out to be worth A LOT more than it appeared in the auction. The photos were blurry and distant so no one could see the details. I could probably resell it for 4x-6x as much just by taking better photos and describing it correctly. This goes both ways when buying on eBay. Sometimes is item is A LOT better and sometimes much worse. Not everyone who is selling is an expert on what they list.

If bidder contacts within 3 days of receiving item, I will refund (minus shipping).

All our items are stamped with a custom UV stamp which cannot easily be duplicated, and washes off with water (and cannot be seen without a blacklight)

I have had numerous requests for returns, but as soon as they find out that I have marked the item (to make sure they don't do a switcheroo), they mysteriously never send the item back......

Hmmmm.......
