I would appreciate some help identifying the maker of this little pig. There are no marks on the bottom at all but there is a lot of shelfwear so he is pretty old....purchased him at an estate sale.

He looks Shawnee...I'll look it up as soon as I find my Shawnee book (if it hasn't grown legs and walked off).

Is the cover missing or just not in the picture?

It is a planter, there is no lid. anyway that is what I was told when i bought it. there is no lip for a lid.

I don't see him in my little book, and my big book is .....?

Could we see the bottom, please?

I know you said 'no mark' - but is the bottom glazed, partly glazed, or unglazed?

Is it completely flat?...or does it have "rests"?...if rests, around the edge, wedge-shaped, lines?

As opposed to TRENT's bottom, which is un-flat & glazed!

Hey! As president of:

Pathetic Old Liberal Weenies Of America (POLWOA to you!), I take great umbrage (I say UMBRAGE, sir!)...

Rather be a WEENIE than a PIGGY, with little PIGGY EYES and a little PIGGY TAIL, etc,etc...

As the Beatles sang...

Rariffle, I don't believe it is Shawnee after all - but I don't know what it is.

I have a number of these older planters, in assorted shapes, which are beautifully glazed, and look very much like Shawnee, American Bisque or Royal Copley, etc.

But they all have that flat, unglazed bottom (which was what I suspected when I asked to see the bottom). It obviously is indicative of something, but I don't know what....so I just keep holding on to them.

Maybe today will be the day we both find out!

It also might be Regal. Stopped at a mall today and say a pig bank with sort of the same shaded colors but it was more highly decorated. Look under Regal and look at the little Red Riding cookie jars and such and see if the eyes are painted the same.
