I know this is AW 101, but it's been awhile so here I am. When an auction closes and the bidder sends me an e-mail with his address rather than filling out the WBN, what do you then send as a follow up that includes the total price, including shipping?

Generally I do not know shipping when the WBN goes out because I'm not sure of the destination zip code. But there doesn't seem to be a simple way to send a follow-up. Or is there...?

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

P.S. I've also noticed that the automated WBN doesn't seem to go out even within 24 hours of the auction close. Is this normal?

I just had 16 to 20 auctions close & before I could start to print my Ebay auction cover sheets, I started getting my copy's of AW's WBN. Many of my auctions are bid on and won by the same bidders, so I use the combine auction feature. If the items are light weight enough I state a flat rate s/h fee. Bidders that win multiple items are automaticly give a discount on shipping on these light items. If the item is heavier than is allowed by 1st class mail I give them the option of FedEx ground (at a fixed cost) or by USPS priority mail using the calculated method option in AW, where the bidder enters his zip code. If I get a email from them requesting info, I respond with the message that "all info will be provided by responding to the AW "WBN". Has worked for me pretty well. (Untill someone starts #**(*@&^#^ing about excessive shipping fees) like tonight. I bit my tounge then responded with "Thanks for you winning bids on my auctions. My terms of sale are clearly
stated. It was your option NOT to bid on the items if you did not agree with them." Then I actually received a email apologising for not reading the TOS correctly.

Hi Bear1949,

Once someone fills in their information from a WBN and then you add shipping costs, what exactly do you click to send the notice back to them showing the total amount and payment options? I can't find that for the life of me.

From you AW home page, go to "My Account" "Seller Preferences". Set your shipping option to USPS Priority (Calc), scroll down to "Remind me to enter the item's weight" & check the option you want (I use "only when using calculated shipping options". Scroll down further & enter your ship from ZIP code.

Under "USPS Priority (Calculated) Shipping Options" check your options.

Once done click on "Save Preferencs" & you are done.

The other option is don't use WBN. I quit using it when the Priority Mail rate went up. I email the high bidder and ask for the mailing address with Zip Code. I then weigh the purchase packed & ready for shipment. I can then give the buyer the exact amount needed to ship. As of this week all pkgs over 1 lb. are shipped by FedEx Ground. I am not going to mess around with options. Just going with the lowest cost to my customers.
