340 +feedbacks, NO negatives, and now my first neutral, and it's for a Half.com book! The neutral feedback said "very slow." I checked my records and saw that I got notice of the sale on 7/24 and shipped on 7/25, and I have the receipt to prove it.

I responded to the feedback, then e-mailed the buyer and explained all and said it was the p.o. that was slow. He sent the message which I'm pasting below, then I sent to him a response asking if he'd consider changing the neutral to positive since his neutral was really giving feedback for the p.o., not the seller. Haven't heard back yet and probably won't.

Here was his response:

"hi, i know the ordered is confirmed very fast. but the fact is i got
the book on 8/14. all other books i ordered on that day (actually in
the same order) came before 8/6/02. because i ordered these books for
people who were here taking training during the summer, i have to send
the book to Hungary which costed me $9.60. too bad. probably it's not
your fault. and i apologize for making you upset."

PROBABLY not my fault?!!!! I now can see why some sellers have separate accounts for half.com and ebay. I know I shouldn't overreact to a simple neutral feedback, but it burns me up. . . . ~Adele

P.S. I've now written a packing slip, like the ones I use for ebay sales, but which reminds buyers how slow media mail is, etc.

Half.com

Well, that says it all! This bidder is an idiot!
It always kills me how they want the cheapest shipping then pizz and moan that its not at their door in a hour and a half.

Never let this kind of fool ruin your day.

Roadsmith,
I got my first neg last month after 600+ positives. It was because of a damaged in transit item. His comment was "...bad handling by FedEx, not your fault". He had signed up on Ebay the day before the auction ended. He thought he was supposed to rate the carrier as well as the seller in the feedback section. I emailed him and explained how the feedback system was supposed to work and why he should contact the seller if there was a problem, and how a neg can blemish a perfect record. I also told him that if he thought I was exaggerating, to go check out the brand new neg in HIS feedback profile. He's still working on pleasing 25 sellers to get it to scroll to the second page.

C'mon guys, I hate to see you wasting valuable mental energy worrying about feedback.

You can't control other peoples' actions. It's true in life as well as eBay. People you regarded as friends will tear you down behind your back. A person you were intimate with will blab your deepest darkest secret at the first opportunity. A beloved parent dies and leaves his entire estate to your sibling and $1.00 to you.

Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor in _Superman_ said it best:

People are no damn good.

i have one neutral from a buyer whos payment was supposedly lost in the mail. they didnt want to spend the money to track the money order and didnt want to send another payment. they received a neutral right back.

a neutral is a neutral and is nothing to get worked up about. beats a neg by any means.

I once sold the shirt in my shop. It was very popular and one of my friends still wears his. Also said on South Park.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your support on this. I've emailed [email protected], asking them to add a line or two in the feedback area reminding buyers that feedback should be for the SELLER'S service and product, NOT the P.O.'s!

Is there a message board for Half.com anywhere? I'd like to get on it. ~Adele

Yeah, I would really like to get on a half.com message board too. I have a few things I would like to say about them.

Oprmond2000: Half.com is who offers the media mail, for I guess obvious reasons. It's cheaper for the buyers. Usually there's no problem; this was my very first over-reaction from a buyer.

He has now posted a response feedback to MY response feedback. He's sorry he gave me a neutral and realizes it wasn't my fault. (But it's STILL a NEUTRAL - no change!)

Am I being vindictive to want to leave him a neutral too, as a poor buyer, so that he can learn how it stings to get one of those? What would you say, exactly?

Roadsmith,
What I did to the guy who gave me the neg was to leave him a neg. It reads " Warning sellers. Leaves neg FB for no reason. Use discretion in dealing with him" Was I vindictive? Maybe. Did I give other sellers ample warning as to what to expect from him? Possibly. It's up to any individual who deals with him to interpret it any way they wish. The bottom line is, if this person bids on YOUR auction, you will know what my experience was with him, and you will be able to decide whether to cancel his bid or let it ride. At least you won't get blindsided like I did. To top it off, his response to my neg was " told him it was bad handling by FedEx and not his fault". I think his response says more than I could ever say.

When I send out my "received your payment/shipped your item" message, I ALWAYS include the statement: "Please remember that media-rate can take up to 6 weeks for delivery." Have never had anyone complain yet.

Ewora: YES! You CAN leave feedback for half.com sales. If you go to your feedback link on ebay, look at the link to your sales for which you haven't left feedback yet. You'll see half.com sales (and purchases!) there. I had about 12 of them last month.

Buyers who only buy on half.com, not on ebay proper, aren't as careful as ebay buyers, even, about leaving feedback. It's all sort of new to them, I guess. I would say that maybe 50% of my half.com buyers leave feedback.
