I'm sure this has happened to someone before, but I just got my first neg out of 159 positive because my customer marked the "neg" by mistake and "her computer" sent it. I reviewed eBay neg removal policy. Am I right in that I'm outta luck, and even if the customer requests it, the neg cannot be removed? (Customer did not intend to leave neg to another seller, which I guess is an exception, but not applicable in this case).

This is so discouraging. Any help out there? I've already responded to the neg, and my customer will try to respond to my response affirming it's true that she meant to leave positive, but my record is now yucked up. I know, whah, whah, but it's very annoying.

Thanks to anyone who can help! Please!

That's pretty much the case. Even if your customer emails Ebay requesting it be removed, chances are it wiil not be. But it never hurts to try.

Was the verbage positive and only the word COMPLAINT left?

I belive the one thing the customer can do is post a response under the incorrect feedback by saying it should have been a positive not negative.

It's impossible to leave a neg if you make a mistake. When you leave your feedback and the negative circle is checked, if you send it it will come back and ask if that is what you wanted to do. Probably your buyer was just not paying attention. I doubt if eBay will remove it...

I have a negative that has positive comments. Then she responded under it that she made a mistake and meant to leave a positive. Ebay won't remove it and now it's buried 10 pages back so everyone just looks at the bright red number by negatives.

Do this: Leave her a neg 'by mistake'. It will teach her a lesson to pay attention and let her feel what it feels like to get a neg.

I agree with JACKSWEBB, it's impossible to leave a neg by mistake.

Sounds rough, but people have to know that there is a price/penalty for carelessness.

Maybe next time she'll think twice and make darn sure she has the right box checked.

I agree ~ Neg her back ..no way you can do that by mistake .. seems to me that there is a warning asking you .. are you sure, etc before you push the button to nuke someone !

Another GREAT reason NOT to leave feedback for a buyer first

NOT ~ Gina50 on ebay

She left positive comment but negative mark. I've already responded, and asked her to respond. I think I'll go the squaretrade route - thanks Jack - I'm already a squaretrade memeber.

And no, I haven't left her feedback yet and will have to think about what to leave her.

thanks for all the great comments and still open to suggestions

Just respond to the neg with profanity, and then report the neg to eBay. They will then remove it, as it violates their FB policy.

I'm definitely feeling like a foreigner on this thread. Yes it's bad the buyer left a neg by mistake, but to return a neg over that isn't a wise business decision by my thinking. Revenge is a bad idea when making a business decisions.

I left neg feedback for the wrong buyer once. It was strictly an act of carelessness but it happened. I wrote ebay and I guess he still has it on his record. I had several other people leave him positive feedback (back when you could do that) to make up the differenc although I realize the damage was done. He was upset at first but after I apologized and made every effort to have it removed, he calmed down and was understanding. Yes I saw the warnings but it was on the wrong buyer. I caught the mistake and emailed him first. we are all human and make mistakes. I dont think revenge is the answer.
Stay Safe!

About a month ago, a poster on another thread had the ideal solution. Leave a neg, and for a comment write " oops, I meant to leave a positive"

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Square Trade will remove it, as long as both parties agree. it costs $20 but it's worth it if you ask me

I tended to agree with uaru, neg for revenge just isn't my style -

My bidder who negged me by mistake was absolutely awesome about helping to correct it and filling out all the silly virtual paperwork thru Squaretrade. And like JACK said, "give 'em $20 bucks and Poof! Gone!"
Well, it's been 6 days since and "poof!" it IS gone. Ahh, my universe it restored.

I went thru squaretrade, and because I'm signed up for the annual billing, I get one free "mediation" (at $20 bucks), so I wasn't out any money, neither was my customer.

Alls well..Thanks for the guidance, all...

This is exactly why on the leaving feedback form negative should NOT be beside positive (so the worst you could get for such a mistake would be a neutral), and also the word negative should be highlighted in red.

I've suggested these simple changes to ebay twice, but of course nada happened.

IF your customer is up for it, you can try this... Reply to the feedback and then have your customer reply with lots of cursing. Then complain to Ebay. I have heard they will remove it if it has cursing in it.
