Hello,
I have found something that I would like to bid on. The seller will not arrange for shipping that is the buyer's responsibility.

I would appreciate any suggestions on freight companies that would pick up the items and ship them to me.

Weight is probably a few thousand lbs.

Thank You

There are a lot of good trucking outfits out there, this one seems to work well for a lot of folks.

As an owner of a pack-n-ship store, I can tell you that many such stores can arrange the freight for you. In most cases, due to the discounts the freight carriers give pack-n-ship stores, it won't cost you anymore than if you go directly to the trucking company yourself. Plus, you get the added benefit of having someone, who knows what they are doing, handling the paperwork, handling the packaging and dealing with all the other time-consuming details.

How would I go about finding a pack and ship store?

The items are in Ohio and I would need them shipped to Florida.

Thanks

There are many trucking companies you can use: ABF, Roadway, Yellow Freight, many others. They all have web sites where you can get quotes. Most trucking companies use a standard pricing system based on freight class. Call a freight company -Roadway probably has a terminal near you - tell them what the freight consists of and ask what class it falls into. When you are given a quote ask for a discount. Some freight companies will give it to you on one time basis. Trucking is a competitive business, they need your freight as much as you need them.

The freight needs to be prepared for transportation. Is it palletized? Can it be?

I find it unusual that the seller won't take care of the shipping and charge you for it. Is the freight in Cincinnati by chance? email me and I'll try to help you out.

One easy way to find a pack-n-ship store is to go to www.ampc.com. The AMPC (Associated Mail & Parcel Centers) is a national trade association. Their site has a listing of thousands of pack-n-ship stores across the country. If I were you, I would contact one near to your home and let them make the arrangements. Naturally, you could easily contact one where the freight is actually located, but most folks prefer the convenience of dealing with someone local.
