Last week I had a bidder email me and tell me that he wants me to jump through all kinds of hoops if I want his order... He has a long list of demands. Most harmless and just bothersome, but when I came to the part where he wants me to accept partial payment in postage stamps.

I tell him that I do not accept stamps as payment. He emails me a long letter about my rigidness and again says he is sending stamps.

I tell him no, I will not accept stamps.

Today I get his payment. ALL STAMPS! His feedback is mostly good, but he has a few about the stamp thing, wierd emails and threats.

I checked his feedback to others. He negs back with all the anger he has... One person called him crazy.

The question is... do I ship and keep the stamps? I guess I can use them. How do I word my feedback? I know what I'd like to say, byt I can't say that...

I would keep the stamps since they are as good as cash when mailing and mail item BUT I would wait and see what kind of feedback he gives you first since he might be a nut case or something !!

NOT gina50 on ebay

I think since you have your stamps in full.
Keep them, use them and send his item.
Then block him from ever bidding again.
Don't leave feed back till he does, then respond accordingly!

He/She may be an older person, and is going back to better days.

When I was young stamps were accepted as pymt. for almost anything you could wish to purchase.

No matter who you were purchasing from.
When your phone bill or electric came stamps were an option.
Mail order or over the counter, didn't matter stamps were accepted!

Not only were they accepted, many times they were the payment of choice by many Co's.

Look at it this way your not loosing anything, If they sent you a lot of them you can use them to ship.

I received a box one day that may have come from one of his customers.

It is a $15.00 item, I am going to ship it but I still cannot believe his nerve. I know he is not old, and I tend to think Jack is correct. I believe he may be a Postal employee. Yet another reason not to upset him.

ALSO,,,,DUMB ME. THE QUESTION ORIGINALLY WAS WHAT DO YOU SAY IN FEED BACK. IF HE NEVER GIVES IT TO YOU WHO CARES, JUST FORGET ABOUT IT AND GO ON. IF HE GIVES A THUMBS UP PAT HIM ON THE BACK. (GOOD BOY, GOOD BOY, THAT'S A GOOD BOY. HIS TAIL WILL WAG.)IF HE NEGS YOU,,,,,JUST NEG HIM BACK WITH "YOU GET WHAT YA GIVE." I SCREWED UP JUST LAST WEEK WITH A BIG SHORT RESPONSE TO A NEG. WASTE OF TIME, HE IS ALREADY BURIED BY ABOUT FIFTEEN THANK YOU VERY MUCH A+'S.

You said you do not accept stamps....THEN DO NOT ACCEPT STAMPS!!! You would only be caving into his ABUSE. Mail him back his stamps(you have enough stamps now) and Neg him. They are not as good as cash(try taking them to your local grocery store and buying something, they will be amused but won't accept them). What will you accept next? Food Stamps, shiny pebbles, pretty rocks??? How about obscure Casino chips? Exactly how far are you going to let a "customer" push you around?
.
A Man will spend $2.00 for a $1.00 item he needs.
A Woman will spend $1.00 for a $2.00 item she doesn't need.

I would contact the USPS and report him. He may be a crooked postal employee. Either he's stealing those stamps or he's a real nutcase!

Treat it as though he has not paid you anything. Because he has NOT paid you anything.

You told him up front. He ignored you.

When and if he pays you, ship him back his stamps with the item.

If he fails to pay you, use some of his stamps to ship the rest of the stamps back to him.

If he ends up paying you, ship his item and hold feedback until he posts yours. The respond accordingly. I would neg him no matter what feedback he gives, because he's a bad buyer and others should be warned.

He wasn't bad to request paying in stamps. He was bad because he did even after you told him no.

Kyms - On every ebay auction page it says [basically] Payment to be in US dollars, unless noted otherwise. And since you didn't state you accept stamps, your buyer didn't abide by your TOS.

What gets me is he emails AFTER the close of the auction, asks if you'll accept and you say NO! Then he sends them anyway. If it were me, I'd return his stamps, using his stamps to do so, and file a NPB form. Check the area that says, "Buyer didn't abide with sellers TOS." Then leave a negative that states: Buyer asked if he could pay with stamps, I said no, he did anyway."

Personally, I'd accept stamps if they weren't in very small amounts. I just choose not to trade with others who don't want to be the least bit cooperative. Asking you to accept stamps is okay...but disregarding your decision of not accepting them, takes the cake.

LOL @ the box dadofstickboy posted.

CAUTION - I would not lick those stamps, but would use a damp sponge to apply them. A nut-case like the one you describe may have altered the adhesive makeup.

This gentleman may not be crazy but a clever businessman. For those that have not bought and sold stamps, unused postage stamps can normally be bought from estates or at auctions for pennies on the dollar. I have often bought hundreds of dollars in unused stamps for $0.05 on the dollar. The coin dealers will often give you 50 to 60 percent of face value. This guy may have found a way to get face value for the stamps he bought. Crazy or Clever --- you can be the judge.

That's not our address any more!
And I'm not Terry!
But it's not really a big deal.
Everyone we deal with gets our address one way or another!

Life is too short to let a nutcase like Mr. Stamps get to you. Send him his merchandise, use the stamps, and forget it.

If you let yourself get aggravated, you are entering into his game. You are better than that.

My suggestion...

Respond to him that you received his envelope but it did NOT have payment inside. Tell him/her that you will wait x amount of days before filing him as a non-paying bidder. If this person ever pays in an acceptable payment form, you can choose to send the stamps back to this person.

You said no stamps. I am assuming you had in your ebay listing what forms of payment you accept. (check boxes that say cc, paypal, ebay payments, checks, money orders.) Stick to your guns.

Oh, and if he never pays, offer to send the stamps back if he will send you the shipping to do so... (watch you get more stamps in the mail)

Blessings,
William Ellison:

(although I would seek the advice of a stamp collector or dealer, just to make certain there aren't any valuable ones in there...)

Agree with oldhat98: This is just another way to chisel oneself a better deal. It's not that hard to buy obsolete but mint postage for a fraction of face value.

It's really no different than the note I just got from the tardy winner of 17 of my auctions, liberally sprinkled with Christian homilies like GOD BLESS!!! and I'LL BE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!!! and I AM A CHRISTIAN!!!! and THE LORD WILL BLESS YOUR EBAY SELLING!!!! Her schtick is that she only has enough money to pay to ship 3 of the items, though she will pay for the item cost of all 17. She hopes I understand.

Oh yeah. I understand.
