ok...i heard this rumor and i am posting this to find out if it true.
you are a seller, you get a negative feedback from a buyer that you did not deserve, and so if you want to remove that negative feedback you in turn place a negative feedback back, but here is the crux....you place real filthy dirty strong obsenties back for the buyer and you send it to ebay to let them see....result....ebay removes both negative feedbacks......is this true and has anyone out there ever seen it or heard about it.....

I AS A SELLER WAS CURSED OUT BY A BUYER. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE NEG WITH A NEG, TURNED IT INTO E BAY. SHE WAS BRAND SPANKING NEW RIGHT OFF THE BOAT. I CONVINCED HER NO ONE WOULD WOULD EVER SELL TO HER WITH NEG. RIGHT OFF THE BAT. TOLD HER TO UNREGISTER. TO JUST DREAM UP A NEW NAME. GUCCIXXXXX WAS THE NAME. SHE MUST HAVE WORKED HARD TO GET THAT NAME. SHE DID AS I SUGGESTED. NEXT THING I KNEW, SHE DISAPPEARD AS TO HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE. I STILL SHOWED A NEG ON MY CARD BUT NOTHING WAS TO BE SEEN. POOF.

AND THE BATTLE RAGES ON.......AND THE BEAT GOES ON.......

I'm pretty sure they will remove the obscenitys, but that doesn't mean they'll remove the buyers negative they gave the seller, unless it too, contained obscenitys.

ebay will only remove feedback that is slanderous or of a personal nature, so never say their name!

I made a mistake, not long ago, of leaving a neg on a nut case and saying her NAME in the comment like "Mary is a delusional buyer - AVOID".

POOF, it was gone.

My NEG for the transaction was gone, but her retaliatory NEG for me remained. I complained to ebay that both feedbacks for this transaction should be removed since ebay was allowing only one side of the transaction to be told and another Seller wouldn't be warned about this user. They said I violated feedback policy, not her, my neg remains and her feedback went back to 0.

A user's name, location, education level or lack of, and any negative adjectives will be grounds for ebay to remove the feedback.

I try to just be factual like "NPB 30 days after EOA, FVF filed." But every once in a while one of these kooks gets under your skin. Sigh.

If the feedback is libelous, you fill out a take down notice just like VERO uses and send it to eBay. If eBay refuses to remove the posting, they can be named in the libel suit. If it's a good libel case and eBay is a defendant, I suppose the lawyers will come out of the woodwork to represent you.

Ebay only had ( has ) the capability to remove every aspect of the obusive feedback so the entire feedback was removed. I'm not sure that it is still true anymore but 3 years ago it was a very common knowledge on ebay and not a myth or legend.

As far as I know it is still the same. About 6 mos ago I shipped a Lenox vegetable bowl to a gal in MD. It was broken in shipment. I had insured it for full value. I asked her to take it to the PO & file a claim. She called me a north bound end of south bound horse on a neg fdbck, (not in those words) eBay removed it & warned her about abusive language. As far as I know she never got her $$ back. You what?? I don't give a d@#$@!!!1

It may be a legend in that ebay does not want users to know about it. It's a little unethical to remove a negative feedback that way but if it was an unwarrented feedback that ebay will not remove through normal channels than go for it. It's their programming error that allows the loophole and they should have fixed it years ago.

A buyer gave you an obscene neg. feedback, you gave buyer a neg. feedback (with or with obscenitys?) and they removed them both?

I thought they only removed obscenitys, racial remarks, and personal info

They can't remove part of the feedback for some reason ( poor programming? ). They have to remove the entire set of feedbacks. It doesn't have to be obscenties either. It can be some personal information like the phone number of the other party.

Note: In 4 years on ebay I have never used this method.

I posted a neg, buyer responded by posting my personal info. I complained to eBay. They removed both feedbacks. I was informed this was how they system worked.

I know that's how the system works but it still seems like they could fix it so part of the feedback could be deleted.

It may be a bad programming error similar to the Bidville search engine being incapable of any description searches.

A few weeks ago a bidder left me a neutral that included one of the "forbidden" words. I responded with a neg then reported the ordeal to Ebay. My neutral was removed but the neg I left still stands.
