Hello,

I have tried and tried to ask eBay this question and have not been given an answer.

I represent a charity organization that I would like to raise money for. I set up a special account for that very purpose. But I cannot find out how to get the organization listed in eBay's charity directory.

When people come to eBay, the home page lists "charity" in the category listing. I realize this is not an actual category, but a lot of users do not know that. If they want to see charity auctions, the natural thing they would do is click on "charity". The next page appears to show all the charity auctions on eBay. They can go to an alphabetical list and choose whatever charity they are interested in and click on it. This usually brings them to that organization's (or person who is raising funds) "about me" page where they can see their auctions and learn about the organization. I created and "about me" page for this very purpose. The problem is, no one will tell me how to be listed in this directory. Nowhere does it tell users to type in the word "charity" to see other charity auctions.

I have contacted charity@ebay, but there appears to be no one working in that department. I always get the same canned response, telling me to read the tutorials on how to register as seller and they do not address this in the tutorials. They then say to contact [email protected] if I have any further questions. That address is no longer valid according to eBay.

I have asked eBay through the help system and no one will answer me. I have asked organizations listed in the directory, and so far, one responded saying they had problems too, but finally got an answer. But they didn't tell me what the answer was!

This is so frustrating, because I would rather spend my time raising funds instead of begging for information on how to do it.

Does anyone know what the big secret is?

Thanks,

Cat

Have you tried a phone call to them yet?

No, I never imagined they would actually take phone calls. What is their number?

Cat,

Did you get an answer? I spent about an hour poking around the Charity section trying to figure out how (and why) certain organizations get included in the Charity directory. I finally had to give up, baffled.

It's of interest to me because I want to do some charity auctions to raise money for firefighting equipment locally. Our city firefighters could use another thermal camera, but they run $7,000 and up. I have four firefighters living on my block (three active, one retired) and they are great guys.
