Hi everyone!
I've just recently started selling on ebay again (user name: jazikids) after not having done so for almost 2 years (had another kid, moved to new house, etc. etc.) anyway - i had been using my video camera and the "dazzle" video capture device to do my auction pix but now that we've upgraded to windows xp - my dazzle (amigo) won't work. i have some saved pictures on file that i've been using for my current auctions but have no means of putting on any new ones. i'd like to invest in a digital camera and was wondering what's worked for well for you (something mid-priced - not too many bells and whistles - but with a good zoom and clear shots in a variety of lighting conditions). I do mainly small collectibles, yard sale/thrift shop finds some jewellry...any feedback would be much appreciated!

Reneegirl,
I have a moderately priced ($200) Olympus D-360L digital camera. Could not be more perfect for auctions. Clearity and detail are superb for a 1.3 Megapixel.

Check the prices on Ubid.com. There sometimes some really good prices, particularly on factory reconditioned equipment. I got a Gateway Laptop for half of what Gateway was selling the same thing. I use an Olympus D-450 Zoom which I bought 4 yrs ago at Costco for $249.95. Does beautiful work, and is easy to use.

I love my Sony Mavica FD73. It works with a floppy disk instead of plugging a cable or into the USB port. I have had several friends with other cameras see how easy mine is to use, the high quality of the pictures, etc. they have gone out & purchased mine or the newer model. They are available reasonably on eBay all the time.

I love my Mavica also but Sony has discontinued making that model, but if you live close to a Sony outlet store they might have one. I paid $199.00. I also notice in the Sunday paper that Olympus was having a sale on one of their models $200+ Shop around because there are bargains out there.

Olympus D-40 Zoom.
The little flash card and adaptor are a whizbang nifty thing!
I can get 300 photos on one, we are talking decent res jpg.
I am still getting to know the darn thing, but then again, I am pretty old school...manual minolta collector me...but!
And here is the cool part....
the resolution is sooo much better than video, I was doing the same thing with my sony digicam, ack! so fuzzy!
I am using an iMac for my auctions, so it's pretty amazingly easy, no drivers to install for the flash reader, and USB is just too nice.
Here is one of my favorite pictures:

(must copy and paste, I can not find a help section that explains the UBB code well enough... )
And that is just a low resolution shot. It's 3-something megapixels, and the prices are just amazing for these cameras now!
