What should I do? Had a bidder, feedback of 60, buy a 25 dollar widget off me 2 month ago. Didn't get the payment, so 3 weeks later, filed NPB, then emails, apologizes, and 5 days later I get the payment, so I sent it, priority mail. 3 weeks later I get this..

So I emailed, saying it should be there soon, then checked her on ebays and she is now NARU'ed! Has no negatives, but I do remember the bidder was bidding up a storm. Today i get this....

I haven't recieved it yet, send refund or replacement or will contact ebays on this matter.

I checked and she is STILL NAR'ed! What would you do? She didn't buy insurance. Can she still contact ebay on this matter even if she is NAEU'ed?

and just what do you think ebay would do if they did turn you in? these threats are a dime a dozen.

you should try to check with the USPS on the package though...when DC is free there is no reason not to use it...


IMHO..a sellers job is not done until the item arrives in the buyers hands..insurance or not..

Did you have DC on your package? Do you know you can get free DC if your print your label off the USPS website? You can also use eDC on 1st class and media mail by printing your own label, costs only 13 cents.

They sure can't leave a negative feed back agains you if they are NARU'd

Since they are NARU they can't neg you.
And I'm sure any complaints to Ebay will fall on deaf ears.
Leaves you open to do what ever you want.

But you should treat them like you would any other customer!

A NARU'ed user can not leave feedback unless they get reinstalled by ebay or come back with a new user ID and bid again.

email them and ask them to describe the damage to the package (even though they said they didn't receive it, they may slip up and tell you it was damaged) Then you would know it was received and just forget the whole matter.

IMO the naru'd buyer is simply striking back at the system, resentful at being NARU'd. What are the realistic chances of their priority package being lost just as this person becomes NARU'd. I've sent out about 1000+ packages over 5 years, both book rate, parcel post,priority and every other method and the only "lost" claim was a guy in South Korea who vastly overpaid for a camera owner's manual. I would block their emails and place them on your blocked bidder list and get on with your life.

I think that they are just giving you a line, therefore I would just block the emails and forget about this loser.

Once I file npb, fees, I would not even deal with them at all. The fact they took so long tells me they are just a problem to start with.

Hello Ironking, and other Auctionwatchers. I've come out of the woodwork after reading this subject, and here are some ideas that might help you, Ironking. Every few weeks, I can always count on someone claiming they didn't get their package, especially the NPB characters, and once in a while a Naru'd bidder. Just to ease your mind, ebay don't care when a REGISTERED user complains, but hanging on to any proof you might have (postal rect, etc) may still be a smart move.

Here are some random ideas in no particular order that may get them to say "Oops I forgot to tell you that I JUST got the package", or "Oops I just found it behind the desk", or (my personal favorite) is when they simply never contact you again because they're scared that you're "onto" their scam.

Proven R.A.I.D for the "Where's my package" scammers (In my case, about a 95 percent success rate):

Ask them for the exact name and phone number of BOTH their local Postmaster and the carrier that delivers mail to their house. Tell them that you want to personally speak to these civil servants and ask them a battery of questions. That may unsettle the potential scammer all by itself, or better yet, might get them to blurt out something foolish in their next email.

Tell this person you have copies of all correspondence, and if possible, nail 'em with some details that they didn't expect
you to pay attention to, such as the postmark on their letter if it conflicts with the date they claimed they sent payment. That sets up a pattern in both your minds that this bidder has a history of inconsistent statements. What ELSE might they be lying about?

If they're naru'd, contact any sellers that their feedback pages says they dealt with,
even the sellers that gave the + feedback,
because they may also have tried this "I didn't get my package" routine on them too.

Check not only this persons feedback, but also the feedback they left for others, for any signs that a previous scam was attempted by them on a different seller.

Ask this bidder if it's possible that their package was left with someone else at their home or with a neighbor, and is it possible that this person forgot to tell them that the package did arrive.

Check all emails you received from this bidder, as you might find some shifty choice of words or "inaccuracies" they said about other things such as when they sent payment.
Print these e-mails out, since computers are notoriously unreliable. Especially print out the email where they refused insurance, if they made such a preference.

And even if they're currently naru'd, block their bidder ID from your auctions just in case they get sympathy from another seller and they get reinstated by ebay.

In my experience, and given the fact that you sent the package Priority Mail, I've got the feeling this person did get their package but is trying to panic you into removing the FVF/final value fee complaint you made to ebay, if you did file such a complaint.

Good luck to you, and don't let this situation get you down. It happens to far more people than you realize, but since a credit card is now required just to post on Auctionwatch, you won't hear many of your fellow ebay seller's experiences. You'll be fine.

I pretty much don't send ANYTHING out (half or ebay) without delivery confirmation. It's free for priority mail, and only 13¢ with any other class of mail. The only exception is international mail, but if it is expensive enough (i.e. over $20) I then require them to take out insurance if possible.

It seems that before I started to do this (which was recently, only a little while ago I was only doing DC on priority mail) I was getting an increased number of where is my package emails. I don't tell them that I am doing this, and since it is electronic DC, it might look different. However, since I have done this, not a single one of these emails.

With half.com and paypal, you must have proof of delivery, otherwise you will most likely get a chargeback. When I am a bidder and I see they accept paypal and state that the buyer should take insurance because they are not responsible, I sort of laugh and bid anyway, without a thought of taking insurance because if the package truly does not get here, and if they have used DC (and it seems most don't) then they are on the hook, not me.

seyms, I think you are right. The bidder seemed cagey, even before being NAR'ed, over me filing NPB.

ahc3, one of the reasons I dont sell at half.com anymore is even WITH a DC, that shows it was left at the buyers front door, if the buyer files a chargeback, half.com will take that fund away from your account. No questions asked.

I do not know why they insist you put DC or insurance, considering it will NOT protect the seller in anyway. Even if the buyer recieves the item, lets say you sold them a brand new sealed item, if they opened it, and wants to claim itn their opinion it was of adequate quality, they can still file a chargeback for that too! That place is a mecca for fraud artist IMHO.

Personally, I would ignore it and move on. She cannot even contact ebay with that ID because she is NARU. Remember that all inquiries must go through that pain in the ass online complaint form which requires you to be logged in to use.

I can't find anyplace on usps.com's website to print a first class label and get DC for $.13 . Where would I find this option?

I could not find out how to do this on the website, it only allows for priority mail. This is a program you download to your computer, and use it to print labels for all classes of mail.
