I have a question! I've met a wonderful woman who weaves all her fabric, gorgeous stuff, and then makes jackets, coats, tops, etc. from the fabrics.

She has in the past sold items through a retailer for as much as $500 each.

She's lost her retail corner in a shop near here (new owner), and I suggested she consider selling the items she has on hand through ebay.

But what category to get the best exposure? These are truly one of a kind, very beautiful items.

I was checking cagagories and eBay doesn't have much for that kind of items. I found this one.

Everything Else:Personalized,Customized: Other Items.

Now I know keyword spaming isn't right but if your person uses the word artesian in the heading, as this is what she is, her items would come up in jewelry also. This might help. Ebay has catagories for everything else maybe they should look into something for the home sewers.

Had to get rid of that ugly face. I cut and pasted that from eBay and that is what it shows Sorry

Thanks, Libra. I had another idea, too. Perhaps the "designer clothing" category can be made to fit these clothing items.

I am an artist myself and would never sell it online. I haven't seen a positive area for artisans yet. However, I would suggest setting up an eBay store - she could customize her store's look and perhaps have one or two items within the auctions just so that her store would get more exposure.

Sorry, but I'm just not optimistic about GOOD artisans selling online (although I'm dying to find a jewelry maker...good jewelry, not just hooking beads together and calling it jewelry).

If she decides to do it afterall...let me know! [email protected]

thalo8: Thanks for your advice. It was my hunch also that this sort of thing just won't bring the sales it should.

This little old lady is in her 70s and NOT computer literate, just uses the computer for her weaving patterns. Doesn't even have e-mail. I doubt that she'll have the energy to set up an ebay store, but I'll suggest it to her.
