you may want to rethink your statement about Puerto Rico never coming close to being a state as they have voted in the past on doing so but it has never obviously happened as I agree there are only 50 states !!!! ...50 stars on the flag=50 states hahaha

Yes, they have voted, and pretty recently - However, there are always three choices for them
1) Become a state
2) Independence
3) Keep things as they are
Choice #3 ALWAYS wins by far - They are US citizens, but pay no federal taxes. What a great thing, why change it. So they don't get a vote in the senate or the house, but they do vote for president.
Anyway, I believe they should revote and only have 2 choices.
Also, these votes are the first step in the process. I would like to see them become a state, I don't favor this in between status. I don't see them going independent.
