I have a 240-page softcover book, a sort of travel guide-type thing from Santo Domingo that is most likely from the 50s, possibly 60's. It has a red/black/white Marlboro Man ad, color La Habanera cigar ad and a color Bohemia beer ad. Old tobacco and alcohol ads do okay on eBay, some better than okay, but I don't know what to do. Should I take it apart for the ads, or try to sell it whole? If I should take it apart, what would be the best way to do that without damaging any of the pages? If I try to sell it whole, what would be the best way to list it?
Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions.

I've seen ebay magazine auctions where the seller lists all the major ads in the magazine.

I guess I am a purist. I would keep it whole, open it up & take a few pics of the most interesting ads & try to sell it in one piece. I really hate to see things destroyed purely for the dollars.

Normally, I'd agree that you should keep it intact. But a travel-guide type book, unless it's a real stunner or by a well-known author, probably isn't going to sell IMHO, so in this case I'd probably cut it up.

Reasearch ebay listings and see how those sellers do it. Usually, selling it as a whole will make you more money, just make sure to put special emphasis on the ads within and not the book.

Cutting the ads you may want to use a very sharp razor.
