I have a friend who won a video auction on Oct. 30. she paid by Money order and included insurance money. It was shipped media mail. She hadn't heard anything from them so she wrote and this is the email she received from the seller

Our records indicate your package was sent out on the 14th of November .
Please note: All shipments are shipped by USPS via MEDIA MAIL which averages 7-10 business days.
If your package still does not arrive in another week, please notify us and we'll do our best to resolve this situation in terms of a refund or replacement.
Thanks,

Now she waited the week the video hasn't come yet. So she email'd the seller again and got the exact same email as above.

Who does she contact at eBay to get this resolved.
Thanking you in advance.

Even if they were shipping from the opposite end of the country, she should have it by now. She'd still have to wait until 12/14 to start the PO insurance claim. I don't think eBay will touch this until the seller fails to initiate a PO claim. As far as they are concerned it could still be in transit.

So either the seller knows this and is stalling her until they can start a claim or they are avoiding her because it wasn't sent. Has she checked their FB?

Not much she can do yet.

Wait til 12/14, and then file an insurance claim. I always make people wait 30 days too, because even if it is insured, there isn't anything that can be done about it til then. If the seller is not cooperating after 12/14, then there are other steps to take...

Yes, he has a very nice feedback, a powerseller. I have a feeling that he self insures because he probably has another video of the same thing. I told her that he probably self insures and keep in touch with him. She said the funny part of it is he auctioned off another video with the same name. I guess she will just have to wait.

Good Luck! I will not buy anything from a powerseller anymore. Once I waited 5 months for a replacement item (this was last year). Now I won a pair of shoes, paid insurance (this was in June). Still no refund, no replacement. Seller sent several emails claiming she filed a claim but was not getting anywhere with the post office. I was dumb enough to believe her and was patient. Now it is too late to neg her and she won't even answer my email any longer. Name ebectra. Beware of powersellers is the best advice I can give!

Power seller status has nothing to do with the situation. The person you are dealing with does. Power seller simply says they sell alot of stuff, period.

Whhhhhhiiiiiiip It,,,,,,Whip it GOOD!

Media mail from Alaska always takes between 3 and 4 weeks to arrive at it's destination. A lot depends upon where it was shipped from.

I had two checks take 3 weeks to arrive at my PO from California and from Texas -- I live in Nevada. They were both postmarked the same day and both arrived at my PO the same day, even though they came from different directions. I emailed both buyers and explained. They hadn't even followed up on the transaction yet, assuming I was just waiting for the check to clear.

I sent my Father a Christmas gift to Texas, priority mail, December 1st two years ago and it arrived January 12th. We assumed it was lost and hadn't insured it because it contained a hand-made quilt I had worked on all year.

When dealing with USPS you just can't ever tell. I ask all my bidders to be patient. I am planning on changing to Endicia on the 1st. I have received several media mail packages from sellers who use them this month and it has only taken 3 to 4 days! I think the bar codes make a huge difference.

This is one of the many reasons that EVERY Package I send out has ATLEAST a delivery confirmation number on it.

I had a bidder email me tonight that she hadn't received her package yet after waiting for over 14 days. I always email bidders after I have returned from a trip to the post office as well as leaving feedback for them. In this case I was able to give the bidder a status of where the package was in the US Mail system. (Unfortunately, sometimes, not oftem but sometimes their deliv. Confirm doesnt even work but not often)

I bid on something about 3 weeks ago. Sent a money order right away (power seller) They also sent package media mail. No deliv. confirm. GEEZ what is it with these power sellers! Takes forever to get a reply to emails and their cust svc is lacking ( this is only with the ones I personally have dealt with)

I think she asked him for a DC number but he didn't say anything, but then there are alot of sellers that don't know you can eDC a MediaMail package. I am sure by the sound of the feedback that he will come through, the only thing is when. She doesn't buy often so has never encountered anything like this. My opinion of the power seller status is that eBay puts so much restriction on them to maintain their status that they don't give great service because of the amount of selling they have to do. I will make a bet that power sellers would love to take vacations but can they recover fast enough after they take time off to keep that status.

It's probably in USPS lalaland. Powerseller or not, there's not much he can do yet. Just to stick my 2 cents in about Powersellers, I've had nothing but good experiences. Some even send personal e-mails!

Perhaps she should just ask for a replacement item now! If he has duplicate items and good feedback, he would probably jump through hoops to avoid a neg and keep her happy!

As for the powerseller icon~I have one of the buggers and list just a few items per week. I ALWAYS personally acknowledge payments and inform buyers of the shipping date! I answer all emails and 'questions for seller' and chit-chat with my bidders about even trivial things.

I suppose my point in all this is the Powerseller logo can't give insight as to what kind of seller you are dealing with. Feedback is a far better tool so you can see what they are neg'd for and their response. A childish, unprofessional seller is easily spotted in that manner.

Just the two cents Ebay hasn't gotten to yet...

Thanks Wendy, You are so right. Being or not being a power seller has nothing to do with the way business is done. I acknowledge payment & also tell the buyer the date of shipment. I don't use media mail very often, but I use FedEx Ground for anything over 3 lbs. I always tell the buyer to expect up to 7 business days for delivery. ( this depends on where it is going.) The nice thing is that I can trace a package anytime. I just sent a silver flatware service to FL from CA. It was sent on 11/27. The buyer emailed me on 12/5. I checked & it had arrived in J'ville, FL the night before. It was delivered on the 6th.
