I don't care about feedback anymore. I just leave it when I ship the item. I don't withhold it for leverage anymore. If a buyer leaves positive feedback, great. If not, no problem. If they leave a negative, oh well, I can live with it. When I ship the item, I leave feedback and typically consider the transaction done.

So, when I get demanding e-mails from buyers requesting I "leave 'Positive Feedback' as soon as payment is confirmed", its a little annoying. I tend to think this is a newbie buyer (under 100 feedback) that's really anxious to hit the next star ranking. I don't know about you... but the charm wore off around 1,000 positive feedbacks.

IMO sellers are better about leaving feedback than buyers. So emails like this are totally unnecessary. If I am any indication, only 70% of buyers reciprocate feedback while seller feedback is probably higher. (Of course, I have no definitive proof.)

Here's an excerpt from a buyer that wrote the following because I hadn't left feedback quickly enough for him:

"Would you give a 100% refund if you have not shipped yet? I want to do business with companies that are prompted and anxious to 'Give' and 'receive' Feedback as soon as possible! That's how the Company has set-up this forum and Me likewise! May I cancel the sale, or conform to the eBay feedback forum policies?"

woah. lol. its just a feedback.

I posted a similiar thread about how 50% of my buyers dont leave feedback..

I mean I would like a bit more, becausse so far I'm low on feedback ratings.. but it doesn't matter either way to me, because I think I'll sell the items either way with the feedbacks I have already.

I wouldn't cancel a sale just cuz seller doens't leave feedback... I've once came across a seller with over 200-300 feedbacks but he gave none to anyone!

anyhow, personally, I just give feedback right away when I recieve payment too... and if they give a negative for whatever reason, I'll handle it from there...

I have over 1500 showing for my feedback rating. I am indifferent to the number. However a seller gets more bids if there is recent high praise feedback from buyers. Users new to eBay will click on the feedback and be impressed. Nobody else is impressed

Your situation is not an isolated incident. Many new buyers have a screw loose, which I have discovered to my dismay. For a recent example, I send out end-of-auction emails even though I have my auctions set up for Pay Now. It is pretty much the same end-of-auction email I've used for years, rewritten when changes occur, like the acceptance of Paypal, etc. A winning buyer, with a grand total of 8 feedback, paid via Paypal on Sunday evening and included a note that said since my terms were so stringent I must mail his item immediately. He was referring to two statements: 1)communicate with me within three days of the end of the auction with your name and address, and 2)payment must be received within 10 days. Pretty standard, huh? I ship on Mondays, so I send him a polite email, thanking him for his prompt payment, tell him when I will ship, and give a few sentences explaining that my time limits are typical of eBay sellers. He emails back, says he does not tolerate "mandates." I go look at other auctions he bid on, and many of the sellers state in their auctions "buyer MUST pay within 7 days," which seems much more "stringent" than my 10 days. And of course, he has not left one single feedback, ever.

I ignored his last email, let Shipping Assistant generate an email to him with his tracking number, and put his id on my Blocked Bidder List. And that is what I do with all of the new buyers with a screw loose, put their ids in my Blocked Bidder List.

I always leave feedback when my buyer leaves me feedback so this way I know that the transaction was a good one and its completed.

This is how I have been doing it for years, and It works very well for me. (Not about to change now)

A buyer sent payment to me, then came an email saying..........
I paid, leave me my feedback now.............well, I wrote and said what my policy is, he got so upset, saying he will never buy from me again, he is sure my item is what I said it is, but the fact is, I should leave him feedback when he pays...........Well I don't think so, and I don't do it this way. I did explain to him if when it arrives you contact me telling me your satisfied, I will go and leave you your feedback then, if that is what will make you happy.

But I am not leaving FB now, just because you paid,.......you agree to pay when you bid on my auction, so you didn't do anything that was not expected of you.

And feedback is an opinion, done at the description of the seller and buyer.

when are you indifferent about feedback?

24/7.

No, wait, that's not strictly true. I particularly enjoy leaving negative feedback for nasty twits who believe (due to their inexperience) that eBay will protect them no matter what they do.

It's like popping someone's cherry.
