got this from Billpoint, a couple of days ago....

Dear Valued Billpoint Member,
Greetings from Billpoint! This is an advance notice of upcoming removal of the Billpoint payment service on eBay starting in mid-January, 2003. Please note that Billpoint will continue to operate normally through the current holiday shopping season.

Billpoint Removal To Begin In Mid-January 2003*

In mid-January 2003 - Billpoint will be removed as a payment option for all new Auction, Fixed Price and Stores Inventory listings on eBay. At that time, you will no longer be able to list with Billpoint as a payment option on the Sell Your Item form or listing tools. The Billpoint payment option will no longer be available for any new, re-listed, or pending listings created after mid-January. If you list in eBay Store Inventory, you can select "Other On-line payment services" to indicate that you accept PayPal.

In mid-February 2003 - Billpoint will be removed as a payment option for Fast Deposit on eBay Motors. PayPal will become available in both Store Inventory listings and eBay Motors. If you have outstanding Store Inventory listings at this time that include Billpoint as a payment method, please revise them to remove Billpoint and add PayPal.

Month-end February - All Store Inventory listings must be revised by this time to remove Billpoint as a payment method. Learn more about the PayPal integration in Stores at the Stores Community Board. Also at this time, Billpoint will cease to support the Billpoint Invoice function for both eBay and off-eBay transactions. Sellers will no longer be able to request payments through Billpoint.

In mid-April 2003 - The Billpoint Refund function will be removed. Billpoint sellers should issue all remaining refunds prior to April 15th, 2003.

On April 30th 2003 - The www.billpoint.com site will be shut down. Access to the Billpoint Account Summary will no longer be available. You should download a copy of your Billpoint sales and deposit history if you wish to keep a record of your transactions. Billpoint customer inquiries after April 30th may be sent to [email protected]. This mailbox will be re-directed to another eBay help desk.
* Specific dates will be communicated through Billpoint System Alerts and eBay Announcement Board updates.

Try PayPal for Fast, Easy, Secure Payments

We encourage you to use PayPal for your online payment needs. PayPal is now fully integrated into eBay auction and Buy-It-Now listings, as well as merchant tools. Starting in mid-February, PayPal will also be available in Stores Inventory listings and eBay Motors vehicle listings. Whether you post items with the Sell Your Item form or one of eBay's automated listings services, you can use PayPal for all your eBay sales. Learn more about the benefits of using PayPal to sell on eBay.

If you have not yet registered for PayPal, we recommend PayPal's easy-to-use service. PayPal is less expensive than Billpoint for most transactions, and you can begin to accept credit cards and bank account payments from buyers in 38 countries immediately. PayPal accounts will NOT be automatically created for Billpoint users, so if you do not have a PayPal account we encourage you to register now. It's free to sign up for PayPal and the entire process only takes a few minutes.

(Note: Opening a PayPal account is your choice and Billpoint will not share any of your Billpoint information with PayPal without your permission.)

Your Billpoint Account History Will Be Available Until April 30th, 2003

With the above changes, Billpoint will effectively complete its removal on eBay at the end of February 2003. The Billpoint site (www.billpoint.com) and Billpoint staff will be here until the end of April 2003 to support your post-sale payment activities. Until then, you can log into your Billpoint account to download sales history, check deposit status, and issue refunds. We will be here throughout the transition period to assist you with any questions or inquiries that you may have. For additional information about how these changes will impact your Billpoint usage, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions or contact us at [email protected].

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Billpoint
