Ok, I don't buy much on ebay - but a couple times a month maybe. Unfortunately on this sale I used my seller ID and not my buyer one, so I'm a little afraid of retaliation (even though she already left feedback for me). Here it is in a nutshell. Bought a pair of jeans listed as long length which is 34" in this brand. She only listed it as long (yes, I know I should have asked her the exact inseam, she didn't have it listed). After the auction ended I realized she only takes money orders. She has 0 feedback at this time and I have about 4700. I email her and ask her if I can send a check. I don't receive a response, so a few days later I bite the bullet and stand in line at PO to buy a money order. I ship it out. Jeans arrive 3 weeks later and they are a 31" inseam. I email her stating that she said long length which should be 34". 3 days later I get this response "no there was no error when I measured them they were 34 and I usually only buy long I'm sorry if they are not long enough". Well, I'm pretty sure the post office didn't shrink them, and I know I'm measuring them correctly. What do I do now as far as feedback? She is up to +2 and has no current auctions running.

I hate to say it, but do just let it go. Like you said you didn't ask for the exact inseam length. If anything leave a neutral stating that the seller erred in the length of the inseam.

Give the new seller the benefit of the doubt. Didn't we all make mistakes when we first started listing?

I agree - resell them. Boy, if I got negs for every small mistake I made when I first started, I'd be out of business. My biggest? Mixing up four different auctions and sending them all to the wrong bidders! Talk about understanding buyers! It took three weeks to straighten the whole thing out. Needless to say, I never made that mistake again. I'm sure you'll be able to sell your jeans. Good luck to you!

Take a photo of the jeans with tape measure against the inseam. Email it to her.

31" is not long in any brand I know of.

Complain to the post office. Let them know that the elves that steal packages are now leaving thier pants in them.

Mlecher: That is not standard sizing in the jean industry.

Standard is:

short inseam is: Womens' - 29.5-30"

medium inseam is: Women's - 31.5-32"

long inseam is: Womens' - 33-34"

X-Long inseam is: Women's 35-36

It varies slighty from brand to brand normally by a half inch.

I sell 12 different brands of jeans in my stores, including: Lucky Jeans, Mavi, Angel and Levi. I have yet to see a 31" inseam as a long.

ihula: What is the brand?

They were Calvin Klein, which is one of the few brands that is long enough for me. I have a few pair of Calvin Klein long and they are all 34". I have a couple pair of Levi's, and I think their long is a 33"

Hi ihula!
I sell a lot of boutique & high end jeans.
Definitely NOT a LONG inseam with less than 32". Unless it's on a size 2 or 4 ~ even still, not likely.
Today's standard Long inseam is 34", even in brands such as GAP or Abercrombie.
A few consider 32" a Long inseam on smaller sizes (LUCKY Brand comes to mind)
Many trendy styles of jeans ($100+) consider 32" & 33" to be 'regular' inseam.
Right now, standard inseam for JUICY Couture, SEVEN Jeans, & Diesel (to name a few) is 34".
I can't even buy a pair of Jeans at Bloomies or Nordstrom without having them shortened!
I wear a 31 or 31.5" inseam.
That is short in current style jeans!
Definitely not as advertised.
Neg a newbie? mebbe.
If she wants to earn a good reputation, she really should offer you a refund for her error.
IMO, educate her or Neg her.

I've bought and sold Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic jeans for several years now and the inseam really depends on the style of jean.

I wear a petite which comes out to 30".

Their regular (I wear with boots) is 32".

I think that leaves anything that is 33"+ to the long length!

When I worked at Express many years ago, X-LONG was about a 33-34".

These meas. may be changing with the times as humans grow taller though.

You should at least neut. her for not providing measurements and only using the generic "long" description. When selling clothes EVERYONE knows that all brands differ. and they should help the buyer make an informed decision! After all, a Gap 10 IS NOT an Abercrombie 10!

Hey! I LOVE them too! I have a couple of those size 6's just waiting for me to "melt" off these last few baby pounds. All other brands I wear a 10!

Gotta Love the "we're-gonna-make-you-feel-good-so-we'll-lower-the-size-scale" train of thought!

Works for me!
