How long does a seller have to ship an item after recieving payment, in this case a bicycle.
I couldn't find any information on eBay's help.

how long is the road???

a seller can take their own sweet time about shipping. I have had a seller tell me they only ship once every other week because they live far from a post office.

was shipping time mentioned in the auction? what is the seller telling you?

ebay doesn't care one way or the other. as long as they are getting their money they are happy.

Sadly, whenever he gets good and ready to ship it. there is really no specific outline of shipping terms that I am aware of. Feedback is the only recourse to let others be aware of a sellers shipping practices.

I just got in an item that I won on October 23. I kept getting the ole I shipped it already routine. Items arrived yesterday with a postmark of DEC 11 on it. Needless to say my business wont be returning.

When you received your WBN did the seller mention when shipment would be after receiving payment? If he didn't say then I would write and ask them. I think you have the right to know that. I would keep asking until I get an answer...

I thought that was the right answer.

Some sellers are in remote areas and it is a major undertaking for them to ship. If it's a good seller, they will specify their shipping schedule in these cases in the auction description. If it's a bad seller, you may have more to worry about than delayed shipping. I try to get items shipped within 12 hours of receiving payment, except for weekends, holidays , or personal checks from people with bad feedback. This time of year, with Christmas fast approaching, I've been known to ship before receiving payment in special circumstances, however I would never admit to it in the presence of a buyer
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Make this seller tell you when it will be shipped. You are the customer that paid the money, it is your right to know. I am a seller 99.9% of the time, but one time I did buy an item from a seller. I paid with paypal. Two weeks later, I still didn't have the item. I e-mailed and the seller told me "two days ago." She lied and sent it the next day. Post marks are great. I e-mailed again before the package arrived and got a "I don't know when I shipped, but it is on the way." You can be assured this very bad seller got the big fat neg.
If this seller cannot tell you when it shipped or when it will ship, they need a big fat neg as well.

30 DAY RULE

The Rule requires that when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days. That is why direct marketers sometimes call this the "30-day Rule."

If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise.
