Meg has now resigned from the board of directors of Goldman Sachs.

Whitman, who gained $1.78 million from selling IPO shares, said in an e-mail to employees that the actions were "legal" and "quite common."

Maybe "quite common" but time will tell if "legal".

I know at least 200+ common Ebay users who were offered the same IPOs and made similar profits,so I guess it's "quite common."

She had to resign to get some distance between herself and the Martha Stewart-like scandal, even if they were not the same scandal. Meg always plays her cards very well and must be a heck of a poker player.

Unless they were billionaires or a CEO doing busing with GS they weren't offered the same deals that Meg was offered.

These big wheels actually get to buy the IPO shares before it is offered to anyone else and at a much better price.

If Meg et al paid market prices and purchased the IPO stock through the open market there would be no problem. Meg got special treatment because eBay does a huge amount of business with GS.
