The California Town that sold on eBay today:

I see there are a lot of bid retractions. Does anybody know if the town really did sell or did deadbeats totally honk up the auction for the seller?

I find this rather interesting. This was a bid cancellation. New user on feed backs Just where does someone want a new ebay buyer to get feedback if he doesn't win auction....

The last retraction said Seller changed description I thought you couldn't change description after there were bids.

Learn something everyday..

Those are just cheap excuses to pull out of the auction. There are a lot of game players who are doing this just for their own entertainment.

Real estate auctions are different than regular auctions, which most (all?) of the newd outlets have failed to point out. Real estate listings are advertisements, akin to a classified listing, and a bid is meant to show serious interest. It is not meant to be be binding, which makes it different than the rest of eBay.

News outlets have failed to point this out due to 1)incompetence, or 2) the real story wouldn't be as good.

Just goes to show you how thorough and dogged our media is in pursuit of a story.

Ok, eBay real estate auctions are not auctions, just fancy national advertising?

That means the high bidder at 1.7 million can have someone make another offer at 1.8 million and the results of the eBay auction are meaningless?

Did anyone see this real estate auction? Or is it a real estate auction? I am getting very confused.
